Me personally, yes, absolutely. If you can't win your conference you don't deserve to go. As far as the voters, I think if they can they will keep out a team that didn't win their conference, so that would be the tiebreaker scenario you were referring to.

I'll throw my hat in the ring. Assuming the above scenario where by tie-breaker OSU wins the Pac10 over 1-loss USC, what if Texas plays for the Big12 title, loses, and one-loss OU is sitting there? Does Boise St or a 1-loss/undefeated MWC champ then become the next logical choice?
If all things are equal (playing everyone within conference) I could buy into needing to win a conference, but off the top of my head, it seems that about half the time the Big12 "champ" is not the best/most deserving team either due to tie breaker rules or title game upset.
Does anyone believe that if OSU wins the Pac-10 over a 1-loss USC, that OSU is the better team, had the better season, or should be ranked near USC? If one believes that, logically that one would also have to believe that Ole Miss should be ranked near Florida.
Hey, guys I don't know if anyone has said this before, but does this Texas Tech team look eerily similar to last year's NE Patriots.
First, Graham Harrell looks exactly like Tom Brady and they are both incredible. They put the ball exactly where it needs to be, and score a ton of points. Crabtree and Moss. The best WR's in their respective leagues. They can outrun anyone and catch everything in their way. Even look at Wes Welker and Morris(I think that's his name) for TT. They are both small, fast slot receivers, who can just burst for some huge games.
Then, you can look at the coaches. Mike Leach(the mad scientist) and Bill Belichick. Same style Last year, the Patriots were blowing people out. Sound familiar, Texas Tech. Look at this too. Great offensive line with a good running game to keep their offense balanced. And the defense. Good, tenacious D line's along with a bad secondary which really doesn't matter too much, as their offense dominates.
So, along these lines. Texas Tech will go undefeated to the title game, and will probably play the giants, I mean the Gators. And they will probably have the lead with a few minutes to go (in a close game throughout). And all of a sudden, Tebow is about to get sacked, escapes and throws it downfield for a huge gain, and Florida ends up winning the game.
Haha, how funny would it be to see that again. Who will be the next David Tyree. mod edit: language
Point of note- OU are currently ahead of Texas in the coaches' poll. IF the Sooners beat Tech handily in a fortnight, i could EASILY see them being ranked ahead of the Horns in the BCS. (Of course, the scenario where the highest-ranked team doesn't progress would only matter if Tech lost again- since I believe the Tiebreaker in a three-way is the BCS rankings).
"I can't say that. I'd have to say having Ryan Leaf quarterback us to a 1-15 record is probably the biggest challenge."
Rodney Harrison, on whether losing Tom Brady to injury was the greatest challenge he has faced in football.

Which is why I thank God for the BCS. The Coaches poll looks ridiculous, and the AP (I know they're not included) isnt much better. I realize a lot of people like to rank on who's looked the best over the last 3 weeks, eye test, or some other more subjective qualification than results, but there is zero logic being used. Do they even watch the Big12? OU over Texas? Missouri over Okie St? I still don't understand how Fla is ranked above Texas, and really, when you put Fla's results next OU, OU should probably be ranked higher even with LSU being overrated. Luckily the computers and Harris polls are correcting this silliness.

Have you watched Florida play? They utterly dominate every game since the Ole Miss loss. No game has even been close. The score in that Vandy game does not even come close to what that game looked like. Florida played its back ups from about the 10 minute mark in the 3rd quarter. Again, it goes back to what I said after Florida dominated UGA. Everyone is going to say the teams they are smoking are overrated and its not because UF is that good.
Oh Deeray what do you think of this. I started a yahoo FF league around week 4 on Yahoo, and their scoring system is so messed up.. Qb's get bonuses: 5 pts for 250+ yrds, 10 pts for 300+ yrds, 15 pts for 350+ yards, and the pts stack up. Also, they count for WR's 2 pts for 100+, 5 pts for 125+, 10 pts for 150+, 15 pts for 175+.
So, this guy had Jay Cutler and Eddie Royal this week. Cutler had oh lets add this up:30+12+28= 60 Pts lol. Meanwhile, Royal had 41! He also had the Den Punter(no bonuses on them haha), so he got 110 pts with basically 2 guys HAHA.
Idk what yahoo is smoking but I honestly don't think you need to reward already great performances with even more points.

Now youre putting words in my mouth. Because I don't succumb to everyone else's thinking that FLA is the greatest team in the world because of the last 3 weeks doesnt mean I dont think FLA is any good. Youre somewhat souding like those that think USC is the shizz because of how impressive they looked against Wazzu and Washington, and conveniently forgetting how "average" they looked in wins over Arizona and Cal, and conveniently discounting the loss to Oregon St. So FLA has whooped Kentucky and Vanderbilt sandwiching an impressive win over Georgia. How does this make them a better team than Texas based on who Texas has beaten (and they've also destroyed every also-ran team they've faced)? What about OU? They've destroyed everyone they've faced, good team or also-ran, other than Texas. Is losing to Texas by 10 somehow beneath losing to Ole MIss by 1? I'm not trying to bash FLA. I just dont see how voters (and you) can look at only the last 3-5 weeks of the season and decry that FLA is the best one-loss team because they blew out 2 good teams (even though LSU keeps moving closer to also ran status) and 3 also rans. OU's first 5 weeks and last 4 weeks are every bit as impressive, not too further mention how good Texas has looked all year based on who they've played. To me, this is close to the whole undefeated Penn St argument when you line up the scheds.
This is generated by computers, so there is no bias. These are based on real numbers. Florida has played a tough schedule. Texas should be above Florida right now based on there schedule and what they have done with it, but it's not like Florida has not played a difficult schedule, and to compare it to PSU's is ridiculous IMO.
You also forgot that they dominated UGA , and you may say that LSU is close to ran status, but they should have beat that Bama team that most have ranked number 1.
