Should Michael Turner loose weight?

he looks like a fullback and lacks burst. His runs usually only go as far as the offensive line can take him. If you take the first game of the season away against detroit, he is averaging 3.6 yds per carry. I'm not complaining about his fantasy procution, just thought with the amount of carries he is getting it should be more, and the games that i watched he looks really slow.. thanks for letting me vent

I don't know about losing weight though he is pretty stocky for his height at 5' 10" 244 lbs. Less weight doesn't necessarily always translate into more speed though so it's hard to say whether that would make him faster or not. The thing that I don't understand is that when he was with the Chargers one of the things that caught the coaches attention is his ability to catch the ball. Not sure why Atl doesn't utilize him a bit more in passing situations.

If he loses weight he'll lose too much of the power that helps him in the run game. Guys like MJD and Turner need that weight to help them absorb the punishment they receive every week as an (undersized) running back, as well as giving them that added "punch" for redzone carries. Besides, he's looking pretty good to me this year.

No burst? You must not watch any Falcons games. He may not have superior top end speed, but he definitely has a burst.
