Since we're almost at Super Bowl time, I'll share with you guys the hit of my Super Bowl Party the last few years...
Pigs in a blanket in a pig
Purchase:
1 bag of cocktail weiners
3 or so containers of Pilsbury croissants
2 lbs of thick butcher-cut* (if possible) bacon
50 or so toothpicks
Step 1: Half-cook 4-5 pieces of the bacon. Even if you like it raw, you want it rawer.... just enough that the fat starts turning a little translucent.
Step 2: Set aside on a plate, under some paper towels.
Step 3: Pop open the package of croissants and cut 3 or 4 of them into four smaller triangles each. Basically you just lop off the top and cut the base into three equal triangles.
Step 4: Slice the bacon into strips about the size of a stick of gum.
Step 5: Wrap one croissant triangle around a weiner.
Step 6: Wrap a piece of bacon around the croissant.
Step 7: Stick a toothpick through that puppy, catching both ends of the bacon as you do so.
Step 8: Bake at recommended heat and duration for the croissant... I think it's like 7 or so minutes at 350, but whatever.
Step 9: Serve hot (not that you can serve them cold... about 40-50 of these things goes in about 4 minutes or less if you have a crowd of 15 people).
* By thick, I mean get them cut 1/4 - 1/3"
