Touch Football Games

Postby joejlitz » Thu Jan 15, 2009 7:55 pm

I'm 35 and playing against a bunch of Army guys, every Friday for the last month or so. It's nice to see I still "got it," especially against guys in their mid-to-late 20s. It's great exercise and it's always nice to burn someone deep or fake them out on a double-move.

Any 30+ guys still playing football?

Anyone else got some football stories?

I think Bagel and Shoeless play in a league.

I'm 35 and somewhat out of shape. I would be the burnee in a game like that.

I have coached youth flag footbal for 6 years. This past year, I coached and play adult flag football. was a blast.

going to hit both again this year. Got a good team for both coming up. 8 of 11 back for my touth team 8 and under. got 3 past college players for my adult team. Weshould win both and play at the state tourney.
You could think of government workers like teenagers. You pay them an allowance, but do you get any work out them? They eat the food, put their feet on the furniture and complain loudly whenever they are unhappy.

Can't run or do anything strenuous with regards to my knee thanks to a touch-football injury from a few years back. Went up for an INT and got bumped by the receiver and ended up getting my foot locked up in the grass with the weight on that leg at an awkward angle, caused the knee to bend the wrong way (ie my foot came back up towards my face instead of bending back towards my butt) and tore the everliving hell out of everything...

Of course, being young dumb and full of (you know the rest) I taped it up and headed back out there the next game and played the rest of the season gimpy instead of rehabbing or any other logical means of letting it heal and now it's totally useless... :,-(

Used to play pickup games with my buddies all the time. Now we all play in a mens soccer league (we are all 20-21). Great exercise, great competition and of course plenty of trash talk and rough stuff.

I'm 36 and used to play touch football and ultimate frisbee and other supposedly "non-contact" sports, but after a touch football game against co-workers a few years ago in which an engineer broke his foot and I was so sore I couldn't get out of bed the next day, I'm "retired."

Played twice last week and tried to go jogging the next day. Now I remember why I used to get my ankles taped all of the time. They are killing me! !+)
