Happy MLK day everyone. For those who have the day off enjoy it, for those who have to work enjoy your day too, and everyone lets remind ourselves of what a great man Martin Luther King Jr. was.
An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. -MLKJ
Although it is rather cliche, I have always loved this quote from his "I have a Dream" speech in particular.
Props to Deluxe for the sig There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action. - Goethe
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
I love this guy. He was/is a remarkable man. On this day, I have made a habit of reading, "I have a dream," and other MLK speeches. I encourage all you to do the same.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.
Yo, Met... thanks for the sig! GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
I may be a Canadian, but I showed my support for this great man yesterday by purchasing a wristband and also making a donation to the building of his memorial - I urge others who are also so inclined to do likewise. Go to: http://www.mlkmemorial.org/
