Is Moe Williams better than Marcell Shipp?

Postby mannubhai » Wed Nov 12, 2003 6:35 pm

If you had to pick one , who would you choose. Both will have Emith Smith and Michael Bennett taking their starting jobs. Who would be better for the playoffs .. Marcell Shipp or Moe Williams?

Is Moe better than Shipp? In a word: no.

Shipp by a landslide. Look at the starters that "threaten" each player. Old Emmitt Smith is looooong gone. But have you seen young Michael Bennett when he plays on astroturf? The guy is fast and looks great. As well as Williams is playing its just a matter of time until Bennett gets all of the carries.

But Shipp does not score TDs plus he is not getting too many reception yards.
Also playoff Shipp plays Carolina and Seattle (week 15 and 16), Moe plays Chicago and Kansas City.

i really think by then that Bennett will be the primary back with Moe coming in just to punch it in. just like last year 30 yards a game and a TD ever other game or so

Shipp hasn't gotten TD's but if you've had the (misfortune?) to watch Cardinals games its really just bad luck. They've relied on him so much for the last few weeks that they've gotten to the goalline and run little outs and slants for Freddie Jones and whatnot since everyone is keying on Shipp. He'll get his TD's. As for the pass catching I can only assume this is a joke. Last week he caught at least 40 yards and the prior two weeks he ran for well over 100 yards, so either way you can't complain about his production.

I did not watch any of the Cardinals game so far. But would like to know your thoughts on the playoff matchups for Moe and Shipp.

The Cardinals had a team last year that could possibly be worse than this years version. During the final few games of last season, Shipp was inserted as the starter. He had about a thousand all purpose yards and ...nine (?) TDs. That's just in a few games. Shipp will right himself and start getting some TDs before the season is done.
