Sen. Kennedy/Byrd taken to hospital

Postby Metroid » Tue Jan 20, 2009 2:59 pm

Nothing on the web yet but there are reports on the tube that Senator Kennedy suffered a seizure during the inauguration luncheon and had to be taken to the hospital.

Also Senator Byrd received medical attention at the luncheon and had to be taken to the hospital.

I hope he's OK. :-/

They're now saying that Kennedy had a very severe seizure and was still seizing when the paramedics finally got to him. He has been taken to the hospital.

Sad that this happened on such a positive, historic day.

I hope the irony is not lost on people that Sen. Byrd had to leave the luncheon for the inauguration of the first black president because he was essentially "sick to his stomach." Still though, glad to hear that his sickness doesn't seem too serious.

Looks like he'll be OK...

Sen. Ted Kennedy left Washington Hospital Center Wednesday morning as expected, one day after he suffered a series of seizures during President Obama's inaugural luncheon.

Kennedy's spirits are good and doctors want him to get some rest, a Kennedy spokeswoman said. She did not say whether the Democrat was headed back home to Massachusetts to rest or is staying in his Washington home.

Doctors blamed fatigue for the seizure. Kennedy has been under treatment for a brain tumor diagnosed last May. He has been treated with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
