Of the 120 College Football Div 1-A schools, all but 5 (Southern Methodist, Washington, Washington State, North Texas and Western Kentucky) can claim to be the best through the Transitive Property.

Minnesota beat Illinois on 10/11/2008 by a score of 27-20 (on the road!)
Illinois beat Iowa on 11/01/2008 by a score of 27-24
Iowa beat South Carolina on 01/01/2009 by a score of 31-10 (on the road!)
South Carolina beat Mississippi on 10/04/2008 by a score of 31-24 (on the road!)
Mississippi beat Florida on 09/27/2008 by a score of 31-30 (on the road!)
Florida is the 2008 Div 1-A champion

Oregon beat UCLA on 10/11/2008 by a score of 31-24
UCLA beat Tennessee on 09/01/2008 by a score of 27-24
Tennessee beat Vanderbilt on 11/22/2008 by a score of 20-10 (on the road!)
Vanderbilt beat Mississippi on 09/20/2008 by a score of 23-17 (on the road!)
