I have the #3 overall pick as well as the #13. The consensus is that Crabtree is #1, and by quite a margin, but I've heard some arguments that Maclin is pretty close. I know it will all depend on where they land, the QB they get paired with, what role they will play, when they will start, etc. but who is the #2 overall wr coming out for 2009?
Maclin Harvin DHB Other?
And if you were desperate for a wr what rbs would you take Maclin over?
On pure NFL ability Maclin is #2. I've taken some heat for saying Maclin = Crabtree, and fairly so, but if you can get Maclin OR Crabtree, presuming both are in good situations, you're going to have a fine talent.
Harvin is very much in the conversation with Maclin and Crabtree for college talent, but his size makes him "more" of a concern in the pros. Harvin as all the talent in the world and could light up the field on punts/kick returns. He's got good hands and speed, but he's undersized for an NFL WR. If you have to settle for Harvin, and he's in a good situation (as in, not in Detroit or Chicago), you're going to be OK with him is my guess.

Having answered that, would you answer me this - why do you need another thread for this? You're already asking about RB/WR in your other thread, and you did it today. How many threads do you need?
Harvin will be a lot like Sproles IMO, except he can play wide out as well. I hope he goes to a place that can use his talents because then he will be a great fantasy player. I am hoping he goes to New England because Bill is just the type of guy to use him to his fullest.

You should probably look at the other 12 threads you've asked this question in, because I bet the answer is there.
Anyway, in response to the OP, I'd say Maclin by a fair amount and then Harvin.
Dude...it's the offseason. What else are you doing? And this was a very specific question. Not who the top ten wrs are, who should I draft with all of my picks, or how does my dynasty look, but who is the clear NUMBER TWO WR. That's all. Thanks for your contribution. It's slow around here, so I apologize for bogarting the boards.

IMO, there is no clear cut number 2 WR right now. Many will say Maclin, others will say Harvin. I have even seen Britt and DHB put up there. I guess what I am saying is there is no consensus, so you are going to have to make a judgment call and maybe you make that on where they get drafted at.
I personally have Maclin at #1 ahead of Crabtree. It is not that I dislike Crabtree, I just feel Maclin is a more explosive player with a ton of upside. I have my Top 5 (6 with the tie) like this:
