Dyantasy Draft Prep

Postby strider2k2 » Thu Jan 29, 2009 4:41 pm

I want to apologize in advance for the insanely long post.

Since there's no way that I can wait until the draft is a little closer to start making my draft list, I decided I'd make a rough one now. I'm not going to include rookies, outside of the big guys, since it's still a little to early for that I think. Ehat I am doing is going over the waiver wire (since they will all be draft eligible), and try to put something together. Here is my roster:

16 Team Dynasty League
My Roster:
QB (start 1): Campbell, Warner, Leinart
RB: (start 2): Portis, White, Norwood. Betts
WR (Start 2); L. Fitzgerald, Muhsin Muhammed, Curtis, Camarillo (IR), J. Nelson
TE (start 1): Witten, Winslow
DL (Start 2): Freeny, C. Pace
LB (start 2): Posluszny, Dansby, Tatupu, Keith Bulluck, S. Cooper
DB (start 2): Asante Samuel, Meriweather, Antoine Bethea, Bob Sanders
RB/WR
WR/TE
DP (start 2)

Also keep in mind that I currently have four trades in the works. Next to each one I put the chances of completion. Right now they're looking like this:

My Winslow/Campbell/Nelson for Romo/pick (3rd or 4th round) - 95%
My Posluzny/Bulluck/Meriweather for Suggs/Vilma - 75%
My Fitz/Muhammed for Barber/Royal - 80%
My RB (looking like LenDale White)/1st round pick for 3rd overall - 60%

Here are a list of (in my mind) valuable draft prospects:

IDPs:
Leon Hall CB
Michael Griffin S
Michael Lewis S
Darren Howard DE
Greg Ellis DE, LB
Paris Haralson DE
Jay Ratliff DT
Jacob Ford DE
Kalvin Pearson CB (Had four FF last year)
Jaon Kearse DE
Raheem Brock DE
Tramon Williams CB
Sean Jones S (50+ Tackles and 4 picks)
D. Rogers-Cromartie CB
Rashean Mathis (4 TDs last year)

QB:
Vince Young
Seneca Wallace
Rex Grossman
Fitzpatrick

RB:
C. Wells
K. Moreno
L. McCoy
Edgerrin James
J. Hester
JJ Arrington
M. Bush
Chris Perry
K. Watson

WR:
Crabtree
D. Thomas
J. Cribbs
J. McCareins
D. Stallworth
A. Caldwell (If Housh leaves, is he the guy who gets more touches?)
J. Reed
B. Wade
M. Clayton
Re. Williams
S. Rice

TE:
A. Crumpler
B. Watson
M. Pollard

Out of this list, which guys do you think I should be targeting? Also, I have to maintain a 25 man roster by drafts end, so which guys should I drop? If the Romo deal gets done I'll have one free draft pick (have to take Camarillo off the IR). Finally, where do you think the big rookies fit into this list? I personally have them going pretty early, maybe even 1, 2, 3. The only way they don't is if Vince Young or Edge is taken instead. Here's the guys I think I should go after:

Crabtree if I get the 1.3 pick. This would give me some depth at WR after I do the Fitz deal. If he is gone I'd naturally go after one of the rookie RBs. If I can't get 1.3, what do you guys think about Jeremy Maclin? Better or worse (long and short term) than Thomas?
Edge for Betts
D. Thomas/Maclin for Muhammed if he isn't traded.
Crumpler for a DB unless I get Vilam/Suggs, in which case I have another free pick.

Other than that I think I'm pretty good. What do you guys think?

The only trade that I like is the first one, if you can trade a back up te, backup qb and a second year wr for a top qb and a pick, I'd do that deal. This the only deal that I really like for you, if you can do this then go for it, if not then stick with what you have.

I agree that deal 2 and 3 you should pass on. Deal 1 is good, not great but good and deal 4 is really dependant on whether you think Crabtree will be the #3 or if you have a shot at Moreno or Wells.

Neither Edge or Young will be taken over the 3 rooks. Dependant on where teh rooks get drafted I would rank em something like this

Moreno
Crabtree
Wells
Bush
McCoy
Rice
Edge

Actually I put Muhammed in there because he hadn't gotten back to me on who he wanted for the second guy. I just got his email. Barber and Royal for Fitz and C. Horton, S, Wsh. You still think I should pass? I wa sthinking a top 10 RB and a good young WR was pretty good for Fitz.

I'd be fine with making all the trades you have on the table. I think you're getting Romo for cheap and you're getting great value for Fitz. As far as the rankings, I don't think there are any Vets that merit 1st Round consideration, so it'll probably be all Rooks. Where exactly the 2nd tier Rooks rank though probably won't be known until after the Combine and the Draft. And after those trades, wouldn't you have a couple of open spots for the Rooks you draft?

I will cahnge my tune ont eh Fitz deal as well. I am slightly torn but I think BBB is right. MB3 imo is fairly average. I think Jones takes 3rd down duties this year and I am a fan of Choice and feel that he could actually be better than MB3. Royal as well is a solid player but certainly not who I would want as my WR1. Now, given the choice... Fitz and a safety for MB3 and Royal... I guess you ahve to take it.

If I pull the trigger on all of these trades, I would have three free spots. I would also have 3QB, 4RB, 4WR, 1TE, 3DL (Suggs is DL and LB eligible), 4LB, 3DB, and a kicker.

So other than one of the top rookies if I get 1.3, I guess the only thing I need is a TE, while looking to upgrade at WR and RB.

Your team is most hurting at RB. If you did the Lendale trade that would levae you scarcily thin unless you only started 1 in which case I'd make every trade.
