Declaring my keepers, first year QB issue

Postby metallicat63 » Wed Feb 04, 2009 7:31 pm

I have joined my first keeper league this year and already have a dilema and a bit of uncertainty.

We are allowed 3 players as keepers. This is a 12 team league with standard scoring,no PPR.

My question is about my QB situation.

Would you take a chance on throwing Tom Brady back and keep Big Ben or believe that Brady will in fact be ready and able and throw Ben back?

My other two keeper decisions are solid enough in LT and Fitz.

So do I declare this week I am keeping Brady or Ben?

Any input will be appreciated and returned. :-)

No doubt you keep Brady. Ben is damn good Qb, but he will never be the fantasy stud Brady is.

I would try to deal Ben/LT for a Rb upgrade. LT is finished. I tried to advise everyone to deal him last offseason because I thought he was done. You still might be able to get decent value because of his name. Shoot for Jones-Drew or Chris Johnson. Also, try Brady/LT for AP. You never know, some guys trade just because guys are superstars.

Thanks for the input man.
I tried to deal LT myself but everyone wanted some package with Fitz and I want to keep him for sure.
I've got to hope maybe when the next season starts I'll have some more fair offers and interests in some sort of LT/Brady deal.As you know alot of wants/needs can change depending on the draft.

Thanks again for the help ;-D

Do you have to keep a QB? Is it a league where you can not keep more than one guy at each position? Neither Brady or Ben would be in my top 50 for keepers. I know Brady is Brady but he is also coming off major surgery and hasn't played in a game since September.

Who are your other options?

My question exactly.

If you HAVE to keep a QB, you keep Brady... but you will likely have to draft another QB fairly quickly to hedge your bets...

I'd easily keep Brady over Big Ben. Ben is a good NFL QB, but he's only a mid-tier FF QB. Brady has a much higher ceiling, so I'd keep him... ;-D

It kind of stinks that you have to declare this early. My league doesn't declare until about a week before the draft. So much can happen between now and next September. But I digress....

In your situation, I would absolutely keep Brady over Ben. I think Ben is establishing that a big year for him will be 3500 yards and 25 TDs. While we can't expect Brady to duplicate 2007, I think 4000 and 30 can be expected next year -- knee allowing. I think it's a risk you have to take.

Would be nice to hear your other keeper options.

Help with mine?

I am in the same sort of situation I have to pick between Warner, Brady, or Forte. Those are the three best choices on my present team. Brady scares me this year, plus he just got married and we know what that does to a guy. His fight will be drained because Giselle is at home waiting. ;-D I am going with Forte myself, but if I didn't have him I would throw both fish back in the sea!
Good Luck!
