Huge D-league trade (WHIP).

Postby GlassJoe » Tue Feb 10, 2009 12:16 am

I'd love some input on this. PPR league, starting 2RB/3WR/1Flex. Keep entire roster with 4-round rookie draft.

EDITED: He's offering Warner, LJ, Jennings, not Warner, LJ, Portis...I have Portis. Sorry.

His offer:
K.Warner, LJ, Jennings, 2009 2nd (20), 3rd (32), 4th (44) and 2010 1st
for
J.Cutler, Portis, R.Moss

My team:
QB
CUTLER
Delhomme
T.Jackson
Thigpen
RB
MJD
RONNIE BROWN
PORTIS

JJ Arington
Earnest Graham
Caddy
Mewelde
Fragile
WR
R.MOSS
LANCE MOORE
MATT JONES

Devone Bess
Bobby Engram
Dev Henderson
Chris Henry
Josh Reed
TE
GATES
Fasano
K
KASAY
D
BALTIMORE
Draft picks: 2009 - 2nd (22 overall), 3rd (33 overall)
2010 - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

His team:
QB
K.WARNER
Derek Anderson
Frerotte
RB
THOMAS JONES
LARRY JOHNSON

T.Choice
Duckett
Hightower
WR
JENNINGS
E.ROYAL
T.OWENS
H.WARD

Baskett
M.Bradley
K.Curtis
S.Hurd
M.Manningham
I.Stanback
TE
KWII
B.Miller
K
GOSTKOWSKI
D
DALLAS
NYJ
Draft picks: 2009 - 2nd (20 overall), 3rd (32 overall), 4th (44 overall)
2010 - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

So, in a D-league, I'd be trading away a franchise QB and an aging RB for a QB that may offer 2 good/great years and not much else, but could also only give me one year or retire (doubtful) straight up and a RB that is even older (though less wear and tear, probably) but has huge question marks as to next year and beyond. I like Jennings over R.Moss a lot considering Moss is 32 now, but I fully expect Randy to be a stud for 2-3 more years.

Thoughts?

I was thinking of countering with his 1st - 4th in 2010 and leaving 2009 out of it completely (since many underclassmen may come out next year due to the NFL's possible rookie wage scale).

I'd love any input and will gladly help in response (though it won't be until tomorrow night) :-)

Thanks.

I am completely in the dark as to which team is which and how exactly your league's rookie system works, but the team getting Cutler, Portis, and Moss come out WAY ahead.

I don't think i'd do this trade as Warner's status is still questionable; even LJ's value is quite low at this point in time so am not surprised that he's offering a lot of picks just to entice you to accept his offer. ;-)

am assuming that Portis is still with him.

With the exception of the 2010 1st round pick, the other picks are garbage from a value standpoint. So you essentially have:

Your Cutler (a top young QB), Portis (a RB1), and Randy Moss (a WR1 -- and with a healthy Brady, en elite WR1)

for

His Warner (if he comes back), LJ (a nice name from a few years ago, but currently unhappy playing for a dreadful KC team), Jennings (the best part of this deal), plus a 2010 1st.

I think the deal stinks for you. I would pass.

I would definately pass on this deal, if your going to deal Cutler, Portis, and Moss in the same deal you could find MUCH better options then what he offered...Don't settle for this, you'd be dealing way too many studs.

I would stay away from that trade, all it does is knock you out of contending this year.

I'd pass as well. You're giving up way too much for some risky picks. Moss and Jennings aren't far enough apart to warrant all those downgrades. I'd decline this rather easily...
