I have been targetting MJD in one of my leagues to pair with my AP, but the owner has conceded by saying, "These are all fair offers; I just need MJD." This got me thinking -- maybe I can involve AP in the trade. I've already shopped Fitzgerald, and his RB is too weak to accept a deal centered around the WR. So, I guess my question would be -- do you think MJD is a good enough bet that I can offer AP away? I'm a MN guy so I'm really not comfortable with the idea, but I think MJD is about to EXPLODE and if the only way and I buy low on him is to do a AP for MJD and change, I'm tempted to do so.
Well... you are talking about trading away the #1 player in fantasy football for a player who will "probably" blow up. That's not a slight to MJD -- I agree that he probably will.
I suppose it depends on what you mean by AP for MJD "and change". If it's a 2 for 1 deal, it would probably have to include a top-flight WR or elite QB as well.
If he is not the one proposing the deal, he may not be willing to give up that much for AP... I would try and gauge his excitement level before a formal offer.
FWIW... I also own AP in my keeper league... I would trade him if someone were to offer me a deal that knocks my socks off, but otherwise I'm planning on riding him for years to come.
There is no way I would do AP for MJD straight up. I would be open to trading AP, but it depends what you are getting in return. I would consider AP for MJD and a #1 WR or MJD and a stud QB. Please list his roster and I am sure we can put a trade together.
Agreed. It would take MJD and a stud at another position to get AD (maybe picks as well). As high as some are on MJD, Peterson still holds much more value than MJD does...

But I don't disagree about MJD, but I think if your going to shop AD for MJD the first thing I would do is wait until Free Agency and the draft is over, that's just a trade that gives away the best player in fantasy football right now so I wouldn't be in a big hurry...We do know Fred Taylor will be out of the picture and MJD's role will increase, but maybe they draft a speed back in the 2nd round because he fell further then they thought, I'd just like to know the entire situation, who MJD's handcuff for 09 will be, if they draft a lineman to improve the blocking(because frankly that line has to stay healthier then last year for him to blow up), or will they finally get a decent WR to take away 8 man fronts.
You also need another trading piece in there, like everyone said another mid level stud, Peterson for MJD and Braylon Edwards type deal or something similiar, you don't want to trade the #1 pick unless you get a significant upgrade just because of value.

As usual I am going to throw a different opinion out there......I had AP on my roster this year and he was my 3rd best RB(D Will, and T Jones) .....while you can't deny his talent...as long as Childress is the coach and Jackson is the QB...I think AP will be just an average numbers guy.......
I would not be shy to trade him, but agree get alot........I would want a minimum of 2 top level starters and either a potential stud or a high pick.......I think you can profit from selling high.....
Worst case you trade away a stud (say LT 6 to 7 years ago)....lots of downside but get enough back and try to win a couple championships!!

Terrific advice. The problem with the MJD owner is that his best WR is Laverneus Coles. Not only was he out of the top 25 WRs last season, but it sounds like Brett is on his way out the door. Anyway, I've decided to let patience win for once and wait until April/May to re-introduce AP trade talks. Thanks for everyone's advice!
I agree with what everyone else is saying. I would sit tight for awhile on trading AD. If you do move AD now, you definately need another player to go with MJD.
Definitly wait on this one..it's AD/AP/The Diesel (Can we finally settle on one name?) we're talking about!
I also think MJD is about to explode, thats why I traded for him last season. But I don't have Peterson. I wouldn't be comfortable with trading away peterson as well.
The vikings trading for rosenfels isnt going to change much. Just sit tight and wait for FA and the Draft, this will clear up a lot.
