Torry Holt & Marc Bulger.....keep them or trade them?

Postby z raptor » Wed Feb 18, 2009 1:06 pm

Like some expert opinions on what is envisioned with these two for the upcoming season. Basically, they're both backups on my one dynasty team, so trading them is a very viable option. BUT, if there is a 'feeling' one or both will bounce back toward 'pre-2007' #'s, I'd like to know. Here's my team:

Ultimate Dynasty League: (8-5-0 in 2008)
QB: A.Rodgers, T.Thigpen, M.Bulger, M.Leinart,
L.McCown
RB: M.Barber, S.Jackson, R.Grant, P.Thomas
T.Hightower, J.Norwood, B.Jackson, T.Choice
WR: M.Colston, B.Marshall, V.Jackson, D.Branch,
Ch.Johnson, T.Holt
TE: KW2, B.Celek
PK: G.Hartley
DEF: Packers

Thanks a bunch!!!

I think they are both washed up and won't be much help to you this year. I would look to trade them. Have you received any offers?

Just an inquiry to see if I'd trade Holt, but only for a 3rd rounder (29th overall).

To me, it's like u hate to drop them & get nothing for them because u know someone will pick them up, but at the same time u know u can't overvalue them either (Bulger's play has been questionable & Holt is a '?' though he did finish decently last season).

I realize there are a few player's like this (Mason, Bruce, Harrison for example) where it might be best to just let them play out the string of their outstanding careers.

Like I stated, this won't make or break my team......just trying to get a feel of value for each of them......

I'm not sure that they can have a lower trade value then right now. I would hold onto both of them if it doesn't affect your line up too much and hope that at elast one but hopefully both can increase their trade value this season.

Bungle, I agree that that's the best approach at this point. I've read since your post that the new Rams head coach has endorsed Bulger, so I'm probably going to keep him for this season at least and see if I can maybe get a 2nd rounder for Holt sometime before we start our rookie draft.

Thanks again!!!

I think that alot depends on what happens with the draft and how they go about building there team. Bulgers biggest problem has been the o-line and there lack of protection. If they can improve there o-line and keep S-Jax healthy then Bulgers numbers should improve. With Holt I think he can still be a decent wr, but how healthy is his knee? I would keep both Holt, CJ and Bulger on your roster, hope they all rebound to there prior form and then look to trade them for either draft picks or younger depth on your team. Overall you have a very solid team and should be fine, but I wouldnt' drop them yet.

Holt may get cut this off season which means his situation could get better but I don't see Bulger getting much better than what he's had...Bennett has been released and if Holt is on his way out then they don't have all that much left.

Bulger is a 32 year old QB who has taken a beating the last couple of years. He is on a rebuilding team and his best WR is on his last legs. I don't see anyway that he can bounce back.
