Who to Keep??

Postby mwl342 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 6:11 pm

I am entering my 2nd year of a 8 player keeper league. There are no restrictions for keepers except that there can be only 8. Scoring as follows:
6 points per TD (passing included)
PPR
standard yardage scoring (certain bonuses for 10+ catches and 150+ yards don't change scoring much)
DEF scoring:
Standard scoring for sacks and INT

0 - 0 PAs = 20 points
2 - 7 PA = 12 points
8 - 14 PA = 8 points
15 - 24 PA = 4 points

0 - 150 YDSs = 20 points
151 - 200 YDSs = 12 points
201 - 250 YDSs = 8 points
251 - 300 YDSs = 4 points

Starting options:
1QB
1RB
1WR
1TE
2WR/RB flex
1QB/RB/WR flex
DEF
K

My team (notables):
QB: Romo, Thigpen, D. Anderson
RB: Jacobs, Slaton, P. Thomas, Fargas
WR: Marshall, Welker, Holmes, Mason, Branch
TE: Cooley
DEF: Giants

I am leaning towards Romo, Thigpen, Jacobs, Slaton, P Thomas, Marshall, Welker, Giants D. But this leaves Holmes and Cooley on the outside. I am going to try to get a trade done before the season starts. Thoughts? Thanks guys

Why keep a back up qb who will only possibly start for you once all year? I would keep Cooley and Holmes, throw back NYG and Thigpen, so when it comes time to draft your team is set and you only need to get a K, Def and backups.

Maybe you guys missed the starting lineup requirements. I can start TWO QBs in a given week. Passing TDs are worth 6 points. With Haley taking over the reins of the Chiefs in a weak division, I think that keeping Thigpen, assuming he starts, is a no-brainer; but maybe I am wrong. Let me know your thoughts... WHIR

You are correct, I missed that. Drop Cooley from my list and add Thigpen.

1. Romo
2. Thugpen
3. Jacobs
4. Slaton
5. P.Thomas
6. Welker
7. Marshall
8. Holmes

Keeping a defense is like drafting a defense way too early. You'd be better off keeping a positional player with a lot of upside like Holmes. B-)

Swap Holmes for Giants D and you have the correct 8 players.
