Assuming your starting requirements and scoring is relatively normal, I would keep, in order: Gore -- 7 MJD -- 15 Wayne -- 5 Manning -- 20 (yeah he costs you some $$$, but he is the most consistent option at QB in the league) Slaton/Brown -- 3 (If you are able, I would wait until after the draft and see if HOU drafts a "feature" RB... but both RBs present great value)
That's a great starting corps for $50 of your $150 salary cap.
standard scoring, nothing negative (ie no minus for interceptions fumbles etc) and is not a points for reception. just yardage tds and bonuses for 100/300 yard games.
I agree with Indibuck on this one, except I would not keep manning. I would take Cutler for 12. With McDaniels coming to town that offense is going to be sizzling hot, it's a little bit of a gamble, I know. But this offense has all the right pieces. Cutler, Marshall, Royal, a good offensive line (I think, not so sure about the o-line..).
I'm going to use values from our league so adjust accordingly (10 teams, $140 for 14 players, standard scoring...)
I have always found the best logic for keepers in this format is to keep the players where you have the largest $ savings, thus you have max to spend on other locations. So here is who I would keep and why:
MJD - $15 ( he will be a top 5 back in all formats those in our league go for $50+) Gore - $7 ( he will be a 6-14 back cbs sportsline has #6 currently these usually go fo 30-45 in our league) Slaton - $3 (he will be a 6-14 back cbs sportsline has #6 currently these usually go fo 30-45 in our league) R Wayne $5 - (top 10 WR gotta keep him)
SO you have $30 spent, have your top 3 RB's and a #1 WR......I would go get another Top guy (preferably WR) whoever is left....then buy a QB.....should have a starting lineup and have good money for some depth....
I am guessing you have had these players a few years as these values are real low.....one other note to add a twist we add $10 a year to last years auction price just to rotate players back through when their price gets close to the market.
thanks guys for all your opinions. i am suprised that no body is on teh roddy white train though. he was toop 5-10 wr last year with ryan at qb as a rookie. and only 10 bucks. i agree with cutler, i have alwaqys been a fan of favre and elway and cutler remninds me of them with his style of play. manning is certainly a safer play though. i am also a gore fan and he is cheap but with keeping white over gore would allow me to go after any elite rbs out there (im thinking lt if he remains an elite), stephen jackson maybe and whomever else may be out there...or even manning if he is still available as i will have tons of dough. oner last question. would guys trade slatron and white for warner and fitzgerald? i did that already and that is why i have slaton now...just wondering if you thought it was a good move/
Cutler is not a bad option at QB. But put me in the camp that would pay the premium for Manning. And Manning/Wayne is one of the few premium QB/WR combos -- I am not a bog fan of QB/WR combos but that is an exception.
I would keep Gore over White, even if they were the same value. And you get to keep Gore for less. I would imagine it would cost more for Gore on the "open market" than it would for White. Gore is a better value keeper -- it gives you more $$$ to get White or another elite receiver during your auction.
As for your previous trade..... you got pretty decent value out of it.
Yes, you're right that Manning/Wayne are one of the greatest QB/WR combo's. But keeping them both will almost ensure you a loss when the colts offense has a bad game.
Also, the colts are on the decline (still..if they decline, they're better than 75% of the league) they've got a lot of 'older' players with big contracts, that take up a lot of capspace.
Also like I said before, broncos offense will soar, and when projecting manning's stats over cutler's I don't think the added $8 can be justified. And, for $19 you have cutler + gore, instead of paying $19+$1 for manning.
As for gore over white etc. I agree with Indibuck again.
