Which 3 to keep?

Postby ArchangelsOwner » Mon Mar 02, 2009 3:14 pm

Which three of these players do you think I should keep for the 2009 season?

(standard scoring league, not a ppr, *** = previous keeper)

Tom Brady - can he bounce back after missing all of '08 (following his MVP season)? ***
Chris Johnson - great rookie year, made pro bowl
Pierre Thomas - filled in nicely and is considered the possible starter for next year
Reggie Bush - still can show flashes of greatness, but getting hurt more often ***
Ronnie Brown - took advantage of the wild cat, made pro bowl
TJ Houshmandzadeh - if/when he signs somewhere else, can he be the go-to guy?
Wes Welker - always reliable, fell a little w/o TBrady, but should have him back for '09

;-D :-D

Thanks and I'll return the favor when possible.

That's some tough choices, my picks would be Brady, CJ and Welker. Don't really like Bush without points for catches, and I'll take CJ over Brown for the age factor. Almost a coin flip between Housh and Welker.

I think I would go with Johnson (youth and explosivness), Housh (found the right O for his game), and Welker (Brady will be throwing to his safety blanket a lot to stay alive). R. Brown could bounce back and wouldn't be a bad choice if you want him over Welker.

Chris Johnson
Housh
Brady

Bush and Welker's value goes way down with no PPR.

;-D Thanks for all of the opinions so far... but I find it weird - no one thinks that Pierre Thomas should be at least considered a keeper? Everything that I've read since the end of the season says that he most likely will be the new, every-down, stud back (like Deuce was his first few years, before Reggie came along). Up until now, I was leaning towards TBrady, CJohnson & PThomas......is Housh really going to be that big of a star in Seattle?

That is who I would keep to. Brady because they got rid of Cassel. They wouldn't have done that if Brady wasn't on track. Chris Johnson because the guy is a game breaker. If he can wrench some of those TD's from Lendale he will turn into gold. Housh because Seattle is a pass first team in a bad league. I think he fits in well and has more value than Welker who is a #2.

I would rank them, in order:

CJ
Brady
Housh
Thomas
Brown
Bush
Welker

I agree with a few of the above posters -- Bush and Welker are less valuable in a non-PPR league. So for me, I would consider the other 5.

I think you could keep Pierre Thomas over Housh if you wanted to, but as of today, I think Housh is the better value. And I love Ronnie Brown this year as a guy that is a little under the radar, but he would be the last one picked of the 5... so you have a better chance of getting him back in the draft.
