In our 10-team keeper league, we can keep players the following year one round higher than we drafted them. For example, I drafted Brandon Jacobs in the 4th Round in 2008, so to keep him in 2009, he would becom my 3rd round pick. Right now, I'm looking to keep G. Jennings in the 8th and Jacobs in the 3rd. My third and final keeper is a toughie.
Now, I won the league, so in 2009 I will be drafting at the turn - picks 10 and 11 overall. My decision is this:
A) Keep M. Jones-Drew as my first round pick (#10 overall). I would NOT be able to keep in beyond 2009 (we cannot keep 1st round picks), and would give up Gore in the process.
B) Keep F. Gore as my second round pick (#11 overall). I would then have the option of keeping him again in 2010, and would give up MJD in the process.
I would keep Gore. All signs point to a good year for him...they just signed a nice fullback and are going to a power running game and Martz is gone. I am a huge MJD fan but noone knows how he will hold up with the entire load on his shoulder.

I could keep both MJD and Gore, but then who do I NOT keep - Jacobs in the 3rd or G. Jennings in the 8th? Jacobs and Jennings seem like great values at those spots both for this season, and seasons going forward. We are only allowed to keep 3 players.
I think you almost have to go Jacobs and MJD here. I like Gore a lot more than Jacobs, but if I'm reading this correctly, Jacobs would cost you the 30th pick, right? (Last pick in the 3rd round). I would MUCH rather have MJD, Jacobs, and the 11th pick than MJD, Gore, and the 30th pick. Make sure you get his handcuff, but selecting Jacobs provides you with a great RB2 and puts you into the position to draft a premeir WR or QB.

Yes, Jacobs will cost me the 30th pick (last pick in the 3rd rd).
I am pretty set on keeping Jacobs, the choice I'm stuck on is between MJD and Gore. MJD would cost me the #10 overall pick, Gore the 11th overall. If this were for one season, I'd take MJD, but I'm thinking long term. I'm deciding between:
a) MJD, Jacobs, and the 11th pick (and not being able to keep MJD in 2010)
and
b) Gore, Jacobs, and the 10th pick (and being able to keep Gore in 2010)
If I keep MJD, I would have him for the '09 season, but then have to give him up (we can't keep first round picks). If I keep Gore, I would have him for '09 and still be able to keep him in 2010 if so desired.
I understood the ramifications, and I still think MJD is the man to keep.
Think about it this way... with the 11th pick you'll have the best player next year that you can keep again (theorhetically) so while you wouldn't be able to keep Gore, you would have the opportunity to stash the 11th pick next year.
I might take some crap for this, but I would keep all 3 of your RBs. MJD, Gore, and Jacobs is a great stable of RBs to have. Jennings is good value in the 8th, but unless you start 4 WRs, you will be able to get a good core of WRs starting in the 4th round. JMHO.

I agree. If you keep Gore this year, then next year you'd have to give up a 1st round pick to keep him, right? I think I'd take my chances at drafting a 1st Rd RB next year that's better than Gore (probably from this year's 1st round RBs, of which there are a lot of good young RBs). MJD is maybe a top 5 RB, while Gore is a top 10 RB going into this year anyway, and you won't get a better RB at the turn than MJD.
