What should I offer for Witten?

Postby chud214 » Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:09 pm

I'm in a 12 team unlimited keeper league...for each player kept, you slip a round in the draft. I'm looking to pick up Jason Witten and want to know what might do the trick. Here are my relevant players:
QB Romo, Schaub, Delhomme
RB M Turner, Westbrook, R Brown, W McGahee
WR Fitzgerald, S Smith (Carolina), DeSean Jackson, Lee Evans

I was thinking of offering McGahee for Witten and Bernard Berrian. I know Westbrook's close to hitting the wall, but don't want to give up on him just yet. Brown didn't fare that well last year, but I think he'll get more carries and TDs now that he'll be another year removed from his injury. That leaves McGahee as my most expendable RB. I've got a strong team already, but would love to add Romo's favorite target to my arsenal. Am I thinking of giving up too much or am I being unknowingly cheap? LOL

Thanks for your opinions and thoughts

I don't think he will want anythign to do with McGahee but you are right that he is the only guy for you to trade.

I have something all the way from left field. Don't get Witten...pick up Celek instead. D McNabb lit up this kid that last five or so games they played and I look for that to continue.

Help!

Do you have to play a TE? or are they just WR? If so Whitten's value drops a little.....

If they are together try to package MeGehee with one of your WR and get Whitten and a RB2 or 3 back....something to ponder.......

I highly doubt you will get Witten and Berrian for McGahee. You probably won't get Witten for McGahee straight up. Most people are pretty down on him right now. I would offer McGahee for Witten and see what happens.

I don't see any chance of him trading Witten and Berrian to you for McGahee. McG value is very low right now and not really sure what you could get for him, and even straight up not sure he would make this trade. I think you may have to offer Brown to get him straight up, but I may look on waviers or draft one of the young te's coming out this year.

As much as I'd like to get Witten, I KNOW I'm not willing to give up Ronnie Brown to get him. Even though Witten is an elite TE, I'd rather take my chances then drastically reduce my RB depth, especially with Westbrook's knee issues right now. Thanks for your thoughts.

With the QB killer in Bflo, Wittens stock should really climb and so should Romo's. Overpay just a tad to get the premier TE........GG ;-D B-)

One thing you might want to think about.....QB's are a dime a dozen, in most scoring systems, why not trade him Romo, and fill in your roster that way......

Just a thought....

Wow! Hadn't even given getting rid of Romo a thought. If Schaub hadn't struggled down the stretch, I might think about it. I know Romo wasn't the benchmark for consistency last season, but I've spent too many seasons using rotating QBs and it's not something I want to revisit. Thanks for the input.
