Trading just opened, and I was hit with the following offer:
My Rivers for his MJD and 1.03 rookie pick. I would probably have to take Crabtree there, as he would have the most value.
Obviously I love MJD. I'm not that high on Crabtree, although I think he will be decent. But as I said, QBs are the thing to have based on our scoring system. Only one or two RBs finish top 15 in our league each year. He has virually nothing at QB, and would be forced to draft the consensus best QB at 1.03. He has MJD, MBIII, Westy, and DWilliams at RB--which is why he is offering this deal.
I have Brady and Orton as well at QB. So are we confident enough in Brady/Orton to say this is a no-brainer "accept" deal?
Everyone loves MJD next year. However, If Qb's rule your leagues scoring system, I would be hesitant to see if Brady is still Brady, because Orton is no Rivers. But the deal does make since for you.
Unless you are starting 2 QBs, or only start 1 RB, it doesn't really matter that QBs score lots of points in relation to other positions...
Value is based on the supply of players at any given position. That's why RBs, particularly stud RBs, are so valuable.
Let's do the math:
In a 12 team league that require starting 2 RBs, that's 24 starting RBs each week. There are only 32 NFL teams.... and many teams employ a 2 back system, or are just plain bad at running the football.
If you have a flex starting position, that makes RBs even more valuable. Especially feature RBs with little competition for carries, especially at the goal line.
That, and the fact you get the 1.3 rookie pick in addition to MJD, make this deal a no-brainer IMHO.
I think I would take this offer. The Pats trading Cassel means Brady is on track to come back in plenty of time. He never ran alot anyway so the injury shouldn't affect him like it would a RB. If you start 2 rb's vs 1 Qb t
MJD gives you a second solid young RB who is finally getting his chance. I see him as a top 5 back this year. And you grab Crabtree to build on in the future. I think this is a small gamble for you but if it plays out you will win.

This trade is a no brainer. You are giving up your backup Qb and getting a soon to be top 5 RB and the #3 rookie pick. The Pats would not have traded Cassell if they were worried about Brady. So, your QB position is fine. This trade is an absolute steal for you.
I haven't read any of the other posts, but to me this doesn't seem like a good deal. If this is a qb driven league and you would have two top ten players then why trade one of them???? I know you could add depth, but even at 1.03 you aren't guaranteed Crabtree and they are also going to be unproven. So you are going to be trading a top 10 player in your league for someone that might not be in the top 20 and a unproven rookie. Doesn't make sense to me.
I do like MJD, but can he carry the full rb load? Is there o-line going to be turned around? Who are they going to pass the ball to? I can see teams stacking 8 men in the box and really forcing Garrad to beat them, which could hurt MJD. Just my opinion.
