LT/Sproles for MJD

Postby buckysGT » Sun Mar 08, 2009 3:33 am

This is a 16 team, 9 player keeper league. Standard scoring, 1 pt 20 yds passing, 1 pt rushing/rec., PPR. We start 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 flex, 1 k, 1 def.
I just completed a trade for Rivers and now another owner has been talking to me about MJD trade.
My current team.
QB- Rivers, Leinert
RB- LT, McFadden, Addai, Ward, Sproles, M. Bush, Cobbs
WR- Holt, Ginn, Chad Johnson, S. Smith(NYG)
TE- Cooley, M. Lewis
K- Hartly
Def- Saints, Broncos

His roster:
QB- Favre, Losman, Edwards, V. Young
RB- MJD, Forte, Hightower, Harrison, Mendenhall
WR- Evans, N. Washington, Cotchery, J. Lee Higgins
TE- Daniels, Rosario
K- Prater, Rackers
Def- Jets, Bucs

What has been mentioned was a LT/Sproles for MJD. Would it be worth pursuing this trade? Or would I be better off staying wth what I have?

Thanks for the help.

I would probably counter and ask for maybe a 2nd round rookie pick as well.

LT's trade value will presumably continue to go down. And the worst thing that could happen to your team is if Sproles and LT both stay in SD and split the carries.

So I think, at this point, I would rather have MJD than Sproles/LT. So I would probably do the deal as-is if you can't get a rookie pick out of him.

If you can get MJD for LT2/Sproles, I'd make that trade in a New York minute. Especially in a keeper league. MJD will be 24 this year, while LT2 will be 30 this year. Both are awesome PPR RB's, but I'd easily take the younger MJD who won't have F.Taylor stealing carries anymore. LT2 might have another decent year or 2 in him, but I'd rather have MJD for the next 6 years or so. I'm not sold on Sproles being a full-time starter. I think he's an awesome change of pace RB, but I think he's too small to take the pounding of a full-time RB. I've seen people trade LT2 for a mediocre WR in dynasty leagues. His value is very low because of his age and a down year in '08. I'd make this trade fast before the other owner changes his mind. Good luck! ;-D

Meh, I'd keep what you have. Soon enough, I think you'll have two very good starting RBs -- albeit one at the age 30. Sproles is just a year older than MJD and will arguably be a part of a much better offense in San Diego.

I would do the exact same thing. See if you can get a 2nd round pick because you are giving up 2 backs who could potentially be on different teams.

The problems with this is, the owner did a really stupid Favre trade last year (right after he threw 6 td's)and traded away is first 4 rounds of picks. So now he only has one pick in the 5th round and 2 picks in rounds 6 - 9.

I wouldn't push my luck about the pick. I'd much rather have MJD over Sproles/LT in a dynasty/keeper.

Talks are still going on and the owner of MJD has also mentioned an interest in Ginn Jr.
Would a LT/Sproles/Ginn for MJD/Mendenhall/? be a good trade?

Very good deal for you. Mendenhall will be phased in this year and imo has a shot at getting more caries than FWP. I would do the deal.
