Carson Palmer

Postby dblj9911 » Mon Mar 09, 2009 6:35 am

I have Palmer in a dynasty league and trying to decide if I need to make a trade or stick with my current qb's. When healthy Palmer is a top qb, but who knows what will happen in Cincy. What will happen with there o-line, which Ocho Cinco is going to show up, can Coles replace TJ's stats, does Henry resign and get back to his form he used to have with Palmer and what kind of running game do they get with Benson resigned? Any thoughts, heard anything on his elbow?

My qb's Palmer, Eli, Orton

I think you'll be fine.

Ocho is under contract and may well get his reworked prior to this season. I cant see Bengals losing both Housh and Chad.

Chad is NOT gonna get cut as the cap hit is 8 or 9 million if i recall. Perhaps traded, but even if that happens bengals will bring in another solid WR.

The O-Line needs help, and I would hope that gets addressed in the draft (Oher etc). Benson improved the running game and will take at least a little pressure off of the pasing game.

Im not concerned about Shaggys injury, he sat out for so long that I believe he wouldve insisted on surgery if he felt it was needed.

through no fault of his own, he is no longer a top 5 option, and may never again be, but Id be fine with him as my QB1 for sure.

Best of luck ;-D

It's hard to contradict the advice given by a Bengals fan, given dmacblue definitely has more inside knowledge, assuming he watches the games and reads the CIN papers. But I would look elsewhere, especially if the opportunity presents itself. From a fantasy perspective, Palmer has been a ghost the last two years, right? (I can't remember exactly, but that's what I recall). CIN has more problems with their team than almost any other save the Lions, right? Don't get me wrong. I like good QBs on bad football teams (Thigpen), but why risk going into this year with Palmer as your #1 if you can solidify the spot with someone more reliable?

Being a Bengals fan i would really like tooo see Carson Palmer bounce back...but...i can honestly see it not happening. He has had lots of trouble the last few seasons with his knee injury, which i believe never really completly healed and now this elbow problem. If there was talk of Tommy John surgery, i think that means it will happpen sooner or later. I owned Palmer in my keeper league and was lucky enough to unload him at week 4 last year for Romo and a late pick. All and All, i would love too see Palmer do good, and he does have the offensive weapons to do so, i just dont see it happpening. UNLOAD!! :-t

My league consists of 8 teams. We keep all players every year. Team rosters cannot exceed 28 players excluding defense. Every year we have a 3 round entry draft with the bottom 4 teams being in a lottery for the 1st overall pick.We start 2 qbs, 3rbs, 3 wrs, 2tes and 1 d. Basic point system..1 point 25 yards qb..1 point 10 yards rb/wr/te rush or recieving. 6 points for all tds run/throw/catch...minus 2 for int/fum.. At the end of the year each team draws a player from a hat and that player becomes a free agent and is put into a silent auction. My team consists of the following:
manning-romo-warner-shaubb-kitna
andre johnson-edwards-clayton-owens-marshall-jennings
peterson-parker-stewart-taylor-benson-julious jones-graham-micheal bush
danials-winslow-witten
baltimore-chicago.

The league is entering its 5th year, i won it in 2008.

My qb's Palmer, Eli, Orton

I also own Palmer in one of my dynasty leagues. I also have Eli as my backup. 8-o I don't have Orton as my 3rd QB (Russell). :-B

I'm sticking with Palmer. Like you said, I think he's a top QB when healthy. I don't think CJ is going anywhere. I don't think Coles will put up Housh type #'s, but I think he'll be enough of a threat for CJ to have a good bounce-back year. I think Palmer is fine with those 2 & Henry (if he stays out of trouble), Simpson & Caldwell. There's only a handful of QB's that I'd rather have in dynasty. We just both have to hope that he stays healthy....but Eli filled in nicely last year. Good luck! ;-D

Bengals' Palmer getting zip back

Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer, who played in four games last season because of an elbow injury, continues to make progress. He through 60 passes Tuesday to WRs Antonio Chatman, Andre Caldwell and Jerome Simpson at a wide receivers camp in the Los Angeles area and is expected to throw again today.

"He looked good," former Bengals assistant Charles Collins told Bengals.com. "He wanted to keep going, but I told him to save some."

Palmer just came out and said that he is 100%. So do I stick with Palmer, Eli and Orton at qb in my dynasty league or look to make a move?

I think you gotta stick with Palmer out of those three. Eli is going to feel the loss of Plax. Unless the Giants sign Boldin or Braylon , look for a significant drop in Eli's numbers.
