Marion Barber as a keeper??

Postby Minnesota Guy » Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:28 am

Hey Guys,

What do you guys think of Barbers' status this up coming season in a keeper league where we get 6 pts per TD and 1 pt per 10 yards rushing and 1 pt per 10 receiving? Would you guys think a trade for Steven Jackson would be a good way to go?

I have Jackson 20 slots ahead of MB3 and I haven't really addressed the fact that he is moving back to his former roll. That will knock him down a couple more spots. If you can get SJax for Barber and someone else not to expensive I would jump at it. While Barber will still get his TD's he will lose significant carries between the 20's this year. I have at least 16 RB's that I would keep ahead of MB3 at this point.

Great advice as usual. Barber will not have the carries he did last year. They will rely more on Jones and Choice inside the 20's like it was when Julius Jones was here.

I hated SJAX last year and I'm not sold on him this year (yet), but I think SJAX has more upside than Barber this year.

Thanks guys. I didn't think the responses would be that low on Barber but I can see where you guys are coming from. Do you think Randy Moss would be a better keeper?

I would not keep Randy Moss over Barber. I think Barber is undervalued by a lot of people going into this year.

If you can get S.Jax I would definitely do that! M.Barber is injury prone and Felix Jones will spell him often. S.Jax is primed for a huge comeback season.

Well i do agree that Barber will lose carries, i dont agree trading him away for S-JAX. Jackson is on a horrible team and is a walking band-aid. Yes, when playing S-JAX will have better numbers then Barber but the key there is "when playing". My opinion...hold onto Barber. I dont see him losing as many carries as people are predicting. PEACE OUT! ;-D

My league consists of 8 teams. We keep all players every year. Team rosters cannot exceed 28 players excluding defense. Every year we have a 3 round entry draft with the bottom 4 teams being in a lottery for the 1st overall pick.We start 2 qbs, 3rbs, 3 wrs, 2tes and 1 d. Basic point system..1 point 25 yards qb..1 point 10 yards rb/wr/te rush or recieving. 6 points for all tds run/throw/catch...minus 2 for int/fum.. At the end of the year each team draws a player from a hat and that player becomes a free agent and is put into a silent auction. My team consists of the following:
manning-romo-warner-shaubb-kitna
andre johnson-edwards-clayton-owens-marshall-jennings
peterson-parker-stewart-taylor-benson-julious jones-graham-micheal bush
danials-winslow-witten
baltimore-chicago.

The league is entering its 5th year, i won it in 2008.

Don't want to high jack but would you keep MB III over De Angelo Williams? I can only keep one and those would be my first two choices? Thanks.
