Draft pick trade...

Postby TruNinerFan » Sat Mar 21, 2009 12:40 pm

I have an offer on the table right now in my 10 man dynasty league.

I give: A first round pick next year (the pick belongs to one of the worst teams, almost guaranteed to be a top 3 pick)

I get: #5 pick this year and a first round pick next year. The first round pick is one of the better teams in the league. I expect the pick to be in the 6-9 range.

This is my current roster
10 man dynasty league
QB- Romo, M. Ryan, S. Hill, Rosenfels

RB- M. Lynch, R. Bush , Mendenhall, Betts, Chester Taylor, Fred Jackson

WR- Calvin Johnson, Roddy White S. Moss, S. Rice, C. Henry, G. Olsen, J. Morgan

K- Folk

D-Giants

If you are getting the 5th overall this year and say another top 8 pick this year for a top 3 next year, i would probably do the trade. It would all depend if you are planning on going for it all this year or not and how your league is setup. Do you keep all players and also who is all available. What is your mock draft for your league this year? Who do you expect to go in your draft and at what spot??

Hey man. You help out enough people around here that I figured you should get some advice from the Cafe's best. (Cough, cough... I'm referring to me.)

The top three picks are gold in rookie drafts. The fact that this could easily be the first overall makes it untradable at this point. I would sit tight... even though I know the temptation is to bite. ;-D

I would do the trade. You get the 5th overall pick this year. For an unknown 1st round pick next year and 1st round pick thrown back at you. I would take the for sure that you know and grab the 5th overall pick.

Can we see the roster of the team who's pick you have that you expect to be top 3 next year? Fantasy football is a fickle game. Every year at the beginning of the year for my dynasty league I do a writeup and where I think each team will finish, and I'm almost always drastically wrong. A team that looks like crap right now may end up being good next year out of the blue, we see it all the time. Who's to say that that pick you have for next year doesn't end up being worse than 1.05?
