I recently acquired Calvin Johnson... and I'm very happy with that. We are a 12 team Dynasty and I'm posting the link so that you can see the other teams in the league. I'm hoping this works... http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/leaguerosters?leagueId=73200 My team is Infected Nocturnals. Dominator has asked what Calvin Johnson is worth. I'm pretty sure I don't want anything for him but I would like your opinions. Thanks everyone.
You could certainly use help at RB. WHat about something like Gore or Jackson AND R. Williams or Braylon for Grant and Calvin. All comes down to how you feel about these guys. I have Calvin as a top 3 WR for years to come but I also trust that Gore and Jackson should be top 10 RB for a few years as well.
Hi Bungle thanks for your input. I agree that running back is where my problems lie. I'm thinking the same thing as far as the combinations you posted. I just worry about Gore and Jackson's health. Johnson is a beast and if he ever gets a QB on that team (Dear God... please send Cutler to Detroit) his fantasy stock will skyrocket. I should probably wait until after the draft and see what happens in Detroit with regard to the starting QB. It is a PPR league though and Megatron's youth will make him a top wideout for years as you pointed out... this indecesion's killing me.

Really difficult to put a value on Calvin's worth without knowing who his QB is. If the Lions pick Matt Stafford in the upcoming draft, Calvin's long-term value is high, but he may experience a drop in production this year. But then, he has looked good with Orlovsky and Culpepper at QB, so who knows?
For a Dynasty league, I wouldn't trade Calvin for anything less than a top 10 RB. So I'd say M. Turner, AP, MJD, Forte, R. Brown, SJax, D. Williams, C. Johnson (Ten), B. Jacobs, Gore would be candidates. (I left out Westbrook, LT & Portis due to injury/age for a Dynasty league). Others might consider Marshawn Lynch, Steve Slaton or Reggie Bush, but I wouldn't -- too many questions.
Calvin Johnson has the speed of Jerry Rice, the hands of Larry Fitzgerald and the strength of T.O. Why would you want to trade him, unless you feel it can bring you a championship this year...Congrats on getting the next great WR in Fantasy as he enters his critical 3rd year in the NFL! As you said above, if the Lions bring in Jay Cutler...oh my God.
Okay, let's not get ahead of ourselves with Calvin Johnson. Speed of Rice, hands of Fitz, and strength of Owens? C'mon now. Let me guess, he also has the leaping abillity of Randy Moss and the elusiveness of Steve Smith. The kid is a phenom, true.
Anyway, Calvin Johnson should net you better than a top 10 RB. There are only a half-dozen RBs who are unquestioned #1 backs on their team (Peterson, Turner, Gore, MJD, Forte, SJax). Anyone in a timeshare of any kind won't be worth Calvin.

Seriously Captain,
The only flaws I see in Johnson are his inexperience and the lack of talent around him. He's a physical beast, and it seems he has no ego problems. The sky's the limit on him, just get him a QB...nonetheless, I couldn't believe that he was the 2nd or 3rd-highest Fantasy WR last year, depending on the format. I've never seen a WR get more out of three receptions in a game than Calvin Johnson.
I agree with Hank, you cannot find any flaws in Calvin Johnson's game and all your comparisons sound pretty fair. he could definatly be a top 3 for many years to come and probably the number 1 with a great QB at the helm. Sorry Loveboat...your wrong on this one. TOOT TOOT!!

Well said.
Calvin is indeed a beast, and will be for years to come, even with the utter lack of talent surrounding him in DET. You have every reason to be stingy in regards to trading him. So I agree with Bungle in that Calvin is worth a top-10 RB and a high-upside Tier-2 WR.
I have Calvin in a dynasty, along with Fitz and Colston and it would be tough for me to trade Calvin, or the other two also. He is going to be a top 3 wr every year, his production may drop some this year, but very little at all. If Detroit can't make a trade for a qb, then they should live with C-Pep for a year, start to build a quality o-line and go after one of the young qb's that will be coming out next year. If you remember C-Pep had his best years in Minny with Moss and Linahan as the o-cord. If they get some decent line play this year then he can put up big numbers again. I would trade him for nothing less than a top 5 rb.
