Need opinions...value of 1.01?

Postby bungle613 » Fri Mar 27, 2009 3:44 pm

May have several offers on the table. All I need is a RB2 and eventually a QB to replace Warner. I have 1.01 and 1.11 for this years draft. My team is very good. True dynasty, Full PPR league, 1/10

Do I deal 1.01 for any of these... Westbrook, Jones, Barber?

Jones is a no, at least for me.

The deal would likely have to be done before the draft. So options are keep it and draft Wells or Moreno, trade it for Westy and hope he has 2-3 good years, trade it for Barber and hope that he doesn't lose to many touches.

Second, more blunt question, what do you think the value of the 1.01 is this year?

I would be open to trading the #1 pick, because I don't think there is an elite prospect like an Adrian Peterson. Out of the guys you listed, I would get Marion Barber. I just don't trust Westy with his age and all the injuries.

I would do Marion Barber for the first but wouldnt think of giving it up for Westbrook and especially Thomas Jones. :-B

Agreed. We could see Wells or Moreno land in Philly and start stealing carries from Westy right away. San Diego could also go with a RB at #16 overall.

In fact, many of the top rated rookie RB's could be in a RBBC situation this year. I think whoever the Cardinals take would be the best bet to pick 1.01, reminds me of the situation Joe Addai landed in with the Colts 3 years ago. Not the best RB in his class, but the offense he came into made him the best choice for Fantasy.

Right now I'm thinking Donald Brown to the Cardinals at #31 overall -- I would snap him up with the 1.01 pick.

Considering Barber's injuries and the prospect of a 3-headed RBBC in Dallas, I wouldn't deal for him. Wait for the NFL Draft to play out and see what you can get for the pick. The prospect of an every-down RB for Arizona is very tantalizing...don't forget 'Zona could still trade Boldin for a higher pick in the first round and make a RB choice a no-brainer for them.
I have the doomsday device!

I would accept any of these offers if you managed to get a 2nd round pick from them as well so that may be something you look into. If your team is really set to win now, even a Westbrook timeshare would be RB2-worthy and that's the way I would lean. Westbrook and a late first/early 2nd for the 1.01

When do you need to make a decision? My opinion would probably change drastically depending on what happens in the NFL draft.

The NFL network's Charley Casserly's latest mock draft has Beanie Wells going to SEA at 4. If that were to come to fruition, I would rather keep the 1.01 and select Beanie.

But obviously it depends on what happens in the draft, and who goes where.

Well, that is the crux of it my man. There is no deadline except the risk factor of the draft. Wells and Moreno go to say a Seattle and Concy... well good times for me as I made the right choice of keeping the pick. Wells and Moreno got to San Diego and Philly, my guess is that the offers get pulled. Thus my conundrum.

Fair enough.

Then let's look at it this way.... with the "mystery" and "allure" of the 1.01 pick, I would be very choosy about trading it away. In other words, knock my socks off with a deal, especially BEFORE the NFL draft. Westy et al straight up for the 1.01 doesn't cut it... and it doesn't knock your socks off either if you are here inquiring about it.

So... as-is, I would pass on any of these deals. While I agree there is no AP in this class, there are several backs (Wells, Moreno, Brown, McCoy) that have the talent to be better than your potential trades, depending on who drafts them.
