Biggest loss is TO, 38 TDS in the last 3 seasons...can't dispute the numbers but were his distractions worthy of getting axed? Time will tell!
Canty on the otherhand is a huge loss to the Cowboy D...he'll be missed!
Brad Johnson cut...and we pickup Kitna (LMAO)
Linebacker Keith Brooking should be an adequate replacement for Burnett
Safety Gerald Sensabaugh should be an upgrade in coverage but a loss in run stopping over Roy Williams. We need to resign Keith Davis to help here and possibly address it in the draft.
Defensive end Igor Olshansky played for coach before so he should be ok but probably not quite as good as Canty.
Roy williams was the intended replacement for Owens but can he "Relpace" him. Doubt it. Roy better step up this year. Glad we dumped Owens but his production is gonna be tough to match.
We are weak at CB again and haven't done anything to solve the problem. The draft will only produce a hit or miss CB that is raw. We need to get an established vet before the season.
- I don't think we are losing much in run support with Sensabaugh, Roy wasn't really a run stopping presence anymore, all he did was fly into the ball carrier and not wrap up, he really wasn't improving our run game like he used to, he was pretty much a shell of his former self so getting rid of him is an improvement all around.
- Igor overall may not be Canty but I don't think the level of our defense will drop off any, he's one of those guys you have to let go...Pitt, Baltimore, those teams release key defenders for their 3-4 defense every year and rarely see a drop off in talent, the end spot is probably one of the easiest ones to replace so I don't think we'll see much of a loss.
- I think Roy can replace TO and I've stated so before, people are too quick to knock him down because of a rough season injured and changing teams...He scored 23 TD's in his first 3 years, other then Moss, Fitzgerald, & Jennings look and see if you find another Wr, ANY WR that started his career off as a better red zone threat, and this was being the only theat in Detroit and beating double teams every week, every season.
He's someone who can score over 10 TD's no problem, the yards will come because he will get the looks to accomplish it, he's done it before, it's just weird to see everyone knock Roy and call him average and what not, yet people can't wait to call Andre Johnson elite when his career numbers have been all over the place and his TD totals are sub par...Somewhat of a double standard, but Roy will prove people wrong, TO was terribly overrated at this point anyway.
Dropped too many easy passes, complained about the ball in crunch time then he would drop it if given the chance, came up lame on one too many catches that he could of turned into a 1st down, he had a good run here but Roy is just as dynamic as TO, I think everyone will be sure of this when 09 comes to a close so hopefully we can revisit the topic.
88 catches, 1245 yards, 12 TD's for Roy in 09
