Going for the repeat...WHIR

Postby GiantsFanNJ » Wed Apr 01, 2009 4:19 pm

12 team dynasty ...IDP....basic NON-PPR scoring..53 man rosters
I made some big trades and have a legit shot at the repeat.
I could still use a top tier DB and TE
Start.. 1/2/3/1 with one flex and a kicker..Last year I mostly started 1/3/3/1
Basic offensive roster

Breeze..Shaub..Bulger..Rosenfels

SJAX..D.Williams(car.)..Forte..Grant..F.Jackson(bills)..G.Jones(Jax)..Deuce..Pittman..Arrington

B.Marshall..Housh..Bowe..Bradly(KC)..Driver..Engram..Gage..M.Jones..B.Jones..Mannigham..Hill
..Hawkins..Camirillo

Shockey..B.Miller..Fine

I am obviously very worried about Marshall more so because of Cutler than the suspension.
The team i beat in the semi finals last year has Lynch and is interested in F.Jackson. I think Fred may end up with 40% of the touches this year and at the very least will get more touches.

I am thinking of maby going after G.Wilson(DB) or Sheffler(he also has H.Miller....we are both short on draft picks this year because of trades.
What do you think of this offer
Jackson ...Fine...and my 2010 - 3rd round pick
for
Sheffler..and his 2010 - first round pick. (he went 9-4 last year..so it should be a late RD pick)
Opinions ?????? I am, sort of concerned about trading away my RB depth....can i stand the hit...or should i just roll with Shockey

I don't think I'd make that deal.

First, if your scoring is anything like the IDP leagues I am in, the IDPs score less or the same as middle road TEs and Kickers.
I have had more success playing IDPs like defenses, going with matchups and picking up and dropping them at will. The exception to this is if your league rewards kick returns which places a premium on DBs which return kicks.

Next, if Cutler leaves, it might hurt Scheffler more than anyone on that team depending on who Denver puts at QB. He might not end up being an upgrade over Shockey at all?

Finally, if I traded Jackson, I'd want a TE no less than Cooley, D. Clark or Houston's TE.

Looking at your roster, you have trade bait in Rosenfels and might look to deal him to a team without depth at QB who has a few TEs worth starting.

Help me too? viewtopic.php?f=18&t=436019

Thanks...i think that is good advice...
On a side note.,..with Cutler now on the bears and Ortan in Denver...i do think Shef will post good numbers..Bears TE.s on whole did OK last year....as for Marshall...I think he will do OK as well....Ortan when healthy is not a bad QB....well see...anyway when i traded for Marshall...i was really hoping for top 5 type numbers...I think with Ortan he can still be top 10 type of WR...at least i hope so

Yes Steve smith makes plays and jake is an average qb like orton. do you like that comparison.

marshall is an athelete and will make plays.

orton showed flashes of being more than a game manager last year, now that he has weapons....it would be insane to give simms the starting job.
