I am in need of a WR or two. Which player or players would you package to get a WR and what WR would you target?
This is a 16 team, 9 player keeper, PPR league, with all TD's being 6pts. 1pt 10 yards rec./rushing, 1 pt 20 yards passing. We start QB, RB, RB,WR,WR, RB/WR/TE, TE, K, Def
My Roster: QB-Rivers, Leinert RB-LT, Addai, McFadden, Sproles, Ward, M. Bush, Cobbs WR-Chad Johnson, Holt, Ginn, S. Smith(NYG) TE-Cooley, Lewis Def-Saints, Broncos
Well guessing from your top 9 players I would look to trade either LT or Ward from your roster. If you can get some decent value for LT then I would trade him, he is on the downside of his career and get what you can for him, possibly target a team that wants to make a run at winning the whole thing this year. I would look to rebuild through your draft this year and get some top young talent on your team. I would even thing about trading away most of your team and rebuild for a year. Right now I would keep Rivers, Addai and McFadden and try an trade away the rest of your team for draft picks for the upcoming year. Good luck. viewtopic.php?t=435978
Thanks for the reply. I actually like most of my team and was competitive last year. The WR position is what hurt me the most last year. Oh and my starting QB was Eli last year as well. (Just completed a LJ/Eli for Rivers trade). I don't think I would trade away most of them for draft picks. I have been trying to package LT/Sproles for players but not a lot of people are interested. I will try Ward next.
Ward is your best Lure right now not LT. LT just had a down year with Sproles taking a lot of carries. People will remember that and devalue LT.
Ward on the other hand was held back a bit in NY but made the best of the carries he had. He just went to a new team and is expected to be a big part of the Offense. Why else would the pay that much to get him. But I personally don't think Ward will be all that great because he will split carries with possibly 2 others and probably not get much more than he did in NY.
Point being most will percieve him as better than what he actually will be. Try and trade him for a WR straight up. You may not get a top dog but you should be able to wrench away a 2nd tier guy from someone.

Good advice as usual. Target a tema who is solid on the WR front to get best value (obviously) but really for Ward at this moment in time, your best bet would be something like a Santana Moss, Holmes, Evans, CJ type.
IT is risky but if you can, Wait it out and hopefully get the perceived value of LT and Ward up during training camps. I would bet that both their values rise during training camp and/or preseason (although LT doesn't really play in preseason does he).
Thanks for the advice. I am in no rush to do anything at the moment, I just know eventually the WR problem will have to be addressed. I will shop Ward around a little. If I can't get anything decent for him, I will wait until later in the summer.
The owner of Graham and is interested in getting Ward as a handcuff. He also owns Braylon Edwards. First, do you think Edwards is a WR worth going after? And would a Ward for Edwards be a fair offer or should I offer something in addition to Ward?
The owner of Edwards roster looks like think QB-Schaub, Garcia, Orton RB-Turner, Jackson, Graham, Cadillac, K. Jones, Pittman WR-Edwards, Royal, Roy Williams, D. Thomas, Camarillo, M. flyod, H. Douglas TE-Dallas Clark, Miller K-Feely Def-Panthers
Or is there another combination of players i shoule tink about trading? This owner is willing to trade anyone, but it has to be beneficial.
I'd try and package off LT and Sproles for a starting #1 WR -- Torry Holt and Chad Johnson are on the wrong side of 30 and you need some young depth at WR.
LT is nearing the end and I'm not convinced Sproles is an adequate Fantasy replacement.
Marques Colston, Roddy White, Greg Jennings, Braylon Edwards & Dwayne Bowe would be the young guys I would target for a trade if I were you. If you could somehow get Calvin Johnson (although I seriously doubt it) that would be my first choice. I'd avoid Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal in Denver -- (particularly Marshall with a possible suspension this year). Roy Williams is a guy you could target as well, but I'm not sold on him yet, take him as a last resort but make sure you draft Miles Austin in the middle rounds of your draft -- it could be Austin and not Williams that ends up being the stud WR in Dallas.
I'd offer Ward straight up for Edwards (not worried about his off-year. Edwards will probably end up with a California-based team by 2010, that is what I have read he wants). If the guy rejects that offer, I'd counter with LT & Sproles together.
