Benson

I have a question about my 12 team salary dynasty league. We use performance scoring with 1/2 ppr. We start 1QB,2RB,2WR,1TE,1Flex,1,K, and 1 DEF. Here is my current roster.

QB:
Cutler $4

RB:
Slaton: $2
Stewart $11
Mendenhall $9
Harrison $3

WR:
CJ2 $8
Colston $14
Edwards $7
Bryant $2
Morgan $2
Meachem $7(I must have been drunk when I bid on this turd)

TE:
Davis

I also have the 1.06 and the 2.06 rookie picks this year.

Here is my question: I had Benson on my team last year, so I have a few options for him. I can just let him go, and he will be bid on at our annual auction, I could name him my RFA, or I could franchise him. Franchising him will cost way too much($32). I am pretty sure that I will name him my RFA. If we lose our RFA player we receive compensation in the form of draft picks depending on the starting bid. For Benson here are the values: $20 = 2 1st round rookie picks(this year and next year), $17 = 1 1st round pick, $13 = 2nd round pick, $10 = no compensation.

I am thinking about giving him the highest starting salary. He probably won't be bid on because of the comp. I can afford the $20, but does anybody think that I am crazy for doing this?

There aren't a lot of RBs available that will go for less than that.

I know that was pretty long, but I will appreciate any feedback, and leave a link and I'll help you out.

I think that you would be crazy to spend 20.00 on Benson. There is no gaurantee that he will even be the starter next year. The Bengals are in a great position to draft a L. Mccoy or Donald Brown in the 2nd round. I would wait until after the draft before making a decision.

I agree that it is a lot, and I wish I could wait. I have to have this decided by this weekend. Should I just put a starting bid of $1 in? He'll get bid on and if it gets out of hand I could let him go, but I wouldn't get any comp. RBs are like gold in this league, and I need 1 more.

Can you cut Meacham without too much penalty? (I mean there isn't surrendering money extra than what you bid or draft picks?)

I wouldn't bid too much on Benson no more than 5.

Put a starting bid on him and watch out.
