Whilst on probation for unlawfully carrying a weapon outside a nightclub, he was found to have 6 unlicensed weapons in his house. At least 2 were ASSAULT RIFLES! At least 2 weapons were loaded....and elsewhere in the homes his kids played......
He ended up in jail for that little ditty.
During the raid on the home, his best friend gets busted with drugs. 2 days later he and Tank are out clubbing and the buddy ends up in a fight with some gang thug (apparently there's history there) and gets murdered...
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I make some allowances for the Cowboys having made Dallas locals subconsciously immune to such obscene behavior, but really......
You must have missed the part where an NFL player got murdered in own his limo. Or the other NFL player who was held up at gunpoint by his own limo driver. Or the OTHER NFL player that was murdered in his own home. These guys more than anyone should be allowed to own guns.
Countless parents keep guns, yes even loaded guns, in their houses in this country. Do I condone that? Of course not. But at the same time, do I blame a guy for keeping a gun in the bottom drawer of his nightstand in case of emergency? Hell no. You don't know what kind of neighborhood this guy lives in and you don't know what he has been through in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if someone had sent death threats to Tank or his family and that was the reason behind him owning so many guns. NFL players are high profile and are targeted by some people.
I can see why Cincinnati fans could have absolutely zero tolerance for player issues, but for the guys thinking this guy scum of the Earth and calling for his lifetime banning? That's a little harsh for the crimes he's committed. Get rid of the wifebeats before you get rid of Tank Johnson. And if you wanna blame Tank for keeping the wrong company, you may as well label future HOFer Ray Lewis a murderer while you are at it.

Really? You actually believe that statement? We might as well just hand a firearm permit to all famous people. Actors, politicians, infomercial dudes, whomever.
As a non religious person I don't get to throw this out very often but... reap what you sow. Yes, yes, always exceptions but the vast majority of the time, these morons put themselves into these positions. Certainly don't deverve to get shot but man, don't defend them for ignorance.
Apologies for the poor quoting.

Agreed, this is a franchise that doesn't need to be walking that fine line...But I think bringing back Chris Henry after releasing him was much worse, but I don't expect things to change with their owner.

How did Sean Taylor put himself in a position to be killed?
Excuse me if I'm being ignorant here, but home invasion murders seem to be a very rare occurance. When these things happen in my community they appear on the local news because it's a big story and they only show up once in a blue moon because it just doesn't happen that often. People can and do get shot on street corners, at bars and nightclubs, by friends and relatives, etc. all the time. But rarely do you see someone break into a stranger's home and kill the owner of the house. Maybe it's sheer probability that an NFL player should be the victim of a home invasion robbery, but at the same time it's been clearly established that the Sean Taylor home invasion killing was not random and that he and his house were targeted. Even worse, Taylor was forced to give up his guns and try to fend off the robbers with a knife because of the law. In the past, Taylor had foolishly brandished a gun in attempt to retrieve his own stolen property and he was forbidden from owning a weapon while on probation. Did this factor into the killing? It may never be disclosed, but it could certainly be the case.
I'm not a gun nut, but I firmly believe that every adult in this country should be able to own a gun and keep it in their home for self defense. High profile people can and do get permits to carry guns around with them 24/7, but in this day and age it can be difficult to get such a permit. There are people out there that who are comfortable relying on the police to protect them and their families in case of emergency and I have no problem with that. ---
I think Marshawn Lynch should be imprisoned for running over that woman in the middle of the night and it's pretty incredible to me that he was punished more severely for keeping a gun in a backpack in the trunk of his car.
Sure MANY law abiding folk have weapons at home, and I dont have an issue with that at all. Someone breaks into your house and your family is threatened....Im all for shooting the intruder if warranted. For me, its not about the caliber of the weapon, its about the caliber of the person retaining the weapon!....and Tank fails that test, along with many other of these thugs.
Tank is by no means the only trash in the NFL, he is not even the worst of the bunch,....but he IS included amongst them.
Wasnt there some idiot player that arrived at Jets practice with assault weapons in his vehicle..in the early 2000's? I forget his name.

So Tank is "trash", and shouldn't be allowed "anywhere near the NFL" because he owns guns??? I'm still waiting for you to be more specific since you were so harsh on him, other then own multiple guns what else are you holding against him that makes him trash that needs to be out of the league?

I've started typing a response several times and each time have deleted it. IT is a shame that Taylor was killed, it really was as I think he may have been trying to make himself a better person over the last couple of years of his life. If you believe a gun in his hands would have prevented this you are likely mistaken. While it is unlikely the thieves knew if he did or didn't have a gun it is likely if they were willing to fire on an unarmed man then they would have done the same to an armed man. As for the defending his family with a knife, it is speculated that the knife found at the scene was used by the thieves to pry open things, not by Taylor.
His house was targeted because he was wealthy and supposed to be out of town not because he was in the NFL and not because he wasn't supposed to have a gun.
As for every citizen being able to own a gun, I'm not American, so go ahead, I'm certainly not going to move to the States. But once you take that legal gun and point it at someone for no reason, and yes, a dispute over ATV's is NO REASON, then you forfeit that right.
To me, the logical scenario in this unfortunate crime is that the 18 y/o KID got startled when Taylor appeared when the house was supposed to be empty, kid panicked and shot.

While I am not the one calling the guy trash or saying he should be thrown out of the league I will ask this.
You want this guy sitting in the office, cubicle whatever next to you? Do you want this guy employed by the same company you work for? Personally, it doesn't bother me that much as I have people I call friends that have done some really stupid things. BUT, I fully understand where, my guess, the majority of people will come from on this issue. IT is not a right to earn a living or play football. IF some of these owners would police their owns teams instead of having the NFL do it for them, the league may not have all this criticism levied against it.

I dont see the confusion, the man had a PREVIOUS conviction for having a weapon outside of a nightclub, THEN broke his probation by having drugs (his bodyguards, killed 2 days later in a club in an ongoing dispute with a gang member) and assualt weapons etc (illegally) in his home.
Add to that the company he keeps/kept.
Its not that weapons shouldnt be owned.....lets not muddy the waters here
In my eyes, he doesnt meet the criteria for someone that is responsible enough to be having loaded weapons laying around.
Would you let your kids go and hang out at Casa Johnson?
