Halls of Fame Visited?

Postby joejlitz » Thu Apr 09, 2009 5:19 am

My son is 3 and my dad is 71 and I'd like us all to get up to Coorperstown this summer if we can. But I was curious if anyone here has been there, or to Canton, or to any of the other major Halls of Fame and maybe they could describe the experience.

The only one that I have been to so far is the College Football HoF. I'm going to wait til my boys are a little older then we will hit Cooperstown, Canton and the Hockey HoF ;-D

I've been to Canton and Cooperstown a bunch. My best experiences is when I went with fellow die-hards. Otherwise, it seemed like people got bored quickly and I felt rushed.

I did a community service program in Cooperstown last summer, so I got to see the HOF while I was there. I had an absolutely fantastic experience. It was bigger and more comprehensive than I would have expected and there was all sorts of things there for people who are fans of different levels. There was the basic "Who's on first?" clip and also some details about more obscure events. I think it would be a great time to get your son interested in baseball if you haven't already. The one thing that you should note is that, like pretty much any museum, there's a fair amount of walking, so I don't know if that's an issue for your father, but it's something to keep in mind.

I've been to the Baseball, Football and Hockey Hall of Fames.

Cooperstown (Baseball) was by far my favorite. Granted, I went like 20 years ago, but I loved it. The Museum has tons of cool stuff, and I could have spent hours in the actual Hall of Fame reading the plaques.

Football and Hockey were both very cool as well. Both much smaller than Baseball, but still cool. The Hockey HoF had a fair amount of interactive stuff witch was fun. Also, seeing, touching, and getting a picture with the Stanley Cup was VERY cool.

I've been to canton and its definitley a nice way to spend an afternoon. I went about 4 years ago so I can't remember too specific of stuff, but I liked it.

I've been to the Basketball hall of fame in Mass.

It was a pretty sweet experience they totally redid the whole thing just a couple years ago and the whole facility is really nice. Was fun comparing shoe size to that of Shaq... :-b
