NFL suspended Bills RB Marshawn Lynch three games without pay for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
Lynch can participate in the offseason program and preseason, and likely has a good shot to have the ban reduced by appeal. Any lost time presents Fred Jackson with a major opportunity, however. Jackson, already Buffalo's best passing-down back, will start with Lynch sidelined and could be hard to keep off the field when Lynch returns if he performs well early.
