ESPN's Michael Smith reports that Marshawn Lynch has been suspended three games for violating the league's conduct policy.

Lynch is being punished for his February arrest on a misdemeanor gun charge. An official announcement could come as soon as Thursday. Lynch is expected to appeal, which could reduce the ban to 1-2 games. Brandon Marshall was suspended three games last year and had it reduced to one.

Bills' Lynch to be suspended three games

The NFL will reportedly announce today that Commissioner Roger Goodell has decided to mete out a three-game suspension to Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch.

The punishment is for his Feb. 11 arrest in California for carrying a loaded firearm in his vehicle which violates the league’s personal conduct policy, Lynch’s second incident within a year. Last May he was involved in a hit-and-run accident in downtown Buffalo. Lynch entered a guilty plea to the misdemeanor gun charge and avoided jail time.

Lynch will most likely appeal the suspension and could possibly get it reduced, but it is apparent that he will certainly miss the Sept. 14 season-opening Monday night game in New England.

If Lynch sits out all three games, he would lose approximately $112,000 in salary.

As someone who owns Fred Jackson in a couple dynasty leagues, this is pretty good news. I'd expect good production from him in those three games and he has high value to Lynch owners.

Lynch can participate in the offseason program and preseason, and likely has a good shot to have the ban reduced by appeal. Any lost time presents Fred Jackson with a major opportunity, however. Jackson, already Buffalo's best passing-down back, will start with Lynch sidelined and could be hard to keep off the field when Lynch returns if he performs well early.

I expected at least 2. 3 is fair with his history. Hopefully he learns.
