I am a Steve Smith fan. But, what are you thinking of offering for him. I wouldn't give up a ton for a soon to be 30 year old WR with a shaky Qb situation. But, if the price is right I would deal for him.
Agreed. Smith is a great player but he's on the wrong side of 30. Plus, Jake Delhomme's implosion against Arizona in last year's playoffs is a concern to me. With his re-built shoulder and no capable QB to back up an aging Delhomme, the Carolina QB situation is precarious at best.
T.O., Witten and Roy Williams were all Fantasy disasters when QB Tony Romo was out. Same for Ocho Cinqo without Carson Palmer in Cincy. Your Fantasy WR's need a good Fantasy QB to have any real value, and I'm not sure whether Delhomme is all that good anymore.
I expect to see even more running in Carolina this year, with Williams and Stewart pounding the defenses and grinding out the clock in the second half of most games. Not good for Steve Smith. No wonder his owner is trying to peddle him off to you.
In the real world I love and respect Steve Smith's game, he's a top 3 WR in the NFL and has been for some time...That said, Dynasty speaking he's not a guy I'd want on my team honestly...He may have 2 dominant seasons left, and that's debatable, as good as he is I could see his next two seasons around 1k yards and 7 TD's before his numbers start to decline, it's not that Delhomme is just bad right now but they don't have anything behind him, and by the time a new QB develops he'll be on the wrong side of 30.
If i owned him I'd look to sell high, if I didn't I'd rather try and target a #1 WR that had a franchise QB in place, or was younger.

That would likely depend on what your other RBs look like...to make a decision like this (one position straight up for a separate one) we need all the information we can get about the situation.
I like Steve Smith...I think he could possibly do better in this league for longer than some are giving him credit for but most of them are right, he's aging a bit and sometimes it's tough for speedy receivers to keep it up that long. Most receivers, however, are able to play at a high level much later than a position such as RB and can be successful even to age 35 and beyond (look at a guy like Joey Galloway for example). That being said, if you can land him without hurting your team much you'll probably be in a good position for next season.
Hightower's value shold take a dive tomorrow, there's a good chance the Cardinals pick a RB in the early rounds and he becomes at best a share in a RBBC with a chance to vulture TD's.
Offer the deal but I highly doubt the other owner will part with a top-10 Fantasy WR for Hightower, who would barely crack the top 20 RB's.

S/L reqs- 0-2 RBs, 3-5WRs.
His offensive roster- Favre, Clemens, McNabb LT, Edge, Jamal Lewis, Peyton Hillis, Green-Ellis Bruce, Holt, Santana, S Smith (Car), Stokely, Toomer
My offensive roster- Hasselbeck, Ryan, Alex Smith, Vince Young Choice, Hightower, Lynch, McFadden, Turner, Selvin Young Burleson, Camarillo, Ronald Curry, Harry Douglas, Edwards, Ginn, Jason Hill
I wouldn't be hurting my core young RBs (Turner, Lynch, McFadden, Choice) but adding an everyday WR starter. Again, he's old at RB (LT, Edge, Jamal Lewis). I have little at WR, so I grabbed a bunch of guys to see who stuck for the '10 season.
