TE Position

Postby Steeltowne Commish_The Slovene » Sun May 03, 2009 2:37 pm

Who is a better value this year and by how much? Greg Olson or John Carlson.

Seems to me that the Seahawks are not much about passing to the TE, while at least Cutler was.

Also, what is your read on Shockey? Can he rebound to previous glory?

If he was on a less pass happy team I'd say no way, but Brees and the Saints get a lot of passing done!

Olsen and it's really not close...Jay Cutler in town and very few good receiving targets? Easy choice to go with Olsen as the better choice. Shockey will play fine for a few games and get hurt like he always does...steer clear of him.

Olsen is the easy choice. He will be Cutler's main and really only target. I expect him to be a top 3 TE behind Witten and T. Gonzo

I like Carlson, but I'd take Olsen first.

Hrm. Not top 3, but the better option here, I'd say.

I would think that Olsen's value would shoot up some with Cutler, but I don't think a ton. I do like his upside a little more than Carlson for this season. I do think that Carlsons stats will also improve with TJ taking some pressure off, but other than that Seattle doesn't have a decent, or healthy, wr. I can see both players catching between 60-70 passes and about 6tds.
I think you would have to rate them behind Gates, Gonzo, Witten and Clark, but they are right there with Owen Daniels.

Peruse the Bears WR lineup - the decision will take you less than 10 seconds. Especially since Cutler hasn't had to face the likes of Tatupu, Ed Harris, et. al. on a regular basis. Olsen (in his new role of life-preserver) will at least double his production. Call me a lemming on this one, but i'm with the pack.
