It would be nice to have the handcuff, but I don't put a ton of weight on that myself- if I think Brown or Greene is the better ff option, I'd take them regardless of the fact that I have Westy. Not sure which of the 3 I prefer though. I could take Crabtree as well there, but then I'd only have Bradshaw as a #3, too risky.
I don't know, I keep going back to team 3- the difference between teams 3 and 4 is basically Fitz and R. Brown vs. Wayne/Boldin and D. Brown/Greene/McCoy. I like Fitz quite a bit more in a keeper over Wayne and Boldin, and I think Ronnie is fairly even with those rookie RBs right now. Plus, I get the J. Morgan/Robiskie type WR prospect with the #15 pick in that scenario.
Do you guys like the 2nd tier rookies like Brown, McCoy and Greene that much more than Ronnie Brown? I know he's getting up there in age, but I think he has a better chance at being a solid #2 (with upside) for the next 2-4 years than an unproven rookie. He should be fully recovered from his ACL now too. Those guys are more boom/bust IMO.
Won't be able to add much in the CJ3 for Wayne/Boldin trade, pretty much straight up.
I think you are undervaluing Ronnie Brown -- I really like him to have a big year in '09 -- this will be his 2nd year after his ACL surgery, historically RBs perform much better in their 2nd year back from injury. And if you go back to '07.... before he got hurt, he was a top-3 RB regardless of scoring system.
I would also predict a fall-off for CJ3's numbers this year. It's a contract year for Lendale, who has lost weight and should be eager to prove himself this year.
That is why I like Team 3 the best. I love Fitz as a long term keeper.... and I think it's possible Ronnie Brown outproduces CJ3 straight up regardless. That's a strong squad and a Super Bowl contender, especially considering it's a 14 team league.
For your 2nd round pick.... I like Iglesias and Robiskie if they are still there... they don't have the upside of the 1st wave of rookie WRs, but should be able to produce right away and give your squad some depth at WR.
Thanks! Not sure if you're talking about me or the other posters undervaluing Brown. I agree, I think he's a solid #2 RB right now, and has the potential to be a #1.
I think Fitz for CJ3 is pretty fair straight up, but the Fitz owner won't do it- it hurts his starting WRs more than it helps his RBs. That's why I had to work Roy into the deal by trading the #3 overall. I've also tried CJ3 for AJ and Calvin straight up, same response.
This deal pretty much comes down to the #3 pick vs. R. Brown for me, and I think that's pretty even as well. Sure, the rookie could turn out to be better, but I don't think it's very likely, especially early on. If Brown finally puts it all together this year, I would make out very nicely in this trade.
