Hi, I'm in a 12 team keeper league that just finished its first season last year. 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1RB/WR/TE, 1 TE, 1K, 1TM.
I have already decide to keep Aaron Rodgers (giving up my 8th round pick), and Michael Turner (giving up my 2nd round pick). Unfortunately, like an idiot I traded my 3rd round pick for Anquan Boldin last season, so I no longer have that pick.
So for this draft, I currently am picking in these rounds, 1, 4, 5, 7, 9,10,11,12,13,14.
My question is, whether to keep Dwayne Bowe for my 4th round pick or Desean Jackson for my 5th round pick, or to do Neither. I probably won't keep Jackson but I feel like Bowe could have a great year and be a good number 1 option. If I kept him, I would try to trade my 1st round pick to someone for their 2nd and 3rd or 2nd and 4th, and try to team Michael Turner and Dwayne Bowe with two compliments. So with the 2nd round pick I could take a Fitz, Randy moss, or Brandon Jacobs, and with the 3rd or 4th rounder get someone else who is solid. Obviously I need to hit homeruns with these pics or I'm screwed. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks
Boldin for a 3rd round pick isn't too bad imo. I like Bowe for this season, he's a primary target in the red zone and the Chiefs will have a bigger short passing game this year which should also benefit him. The only question about Bowe is his work ethic but he should play an even bigger role in their offense this season. I have him in my keeper league (although I can't keep him) and I plan on drafting him early depending on who I draft in my league in the first round so picking him with your fourth pick based on your roster would be feasable...if he's still there.
I like Jackson too, but he's going into his second year and has a tendency to make a few boneheaded plays, he might improve this season but I think Bowe has a bigger upside at this point.
(Just reread your post and realized you were asking about keeping Bowe vs picking him in the draft, I'd hold on to him over Jackson).

I don't know why you are upset that you traded Boldin for your third round pick. That is the correct value for him. I think it's a no brainer to keep Bowe. He could easily be a top 10 WR this year. I just fear that D JAX will lose some of the big plays with Maclin on the team.

Not when you can't keep him the following year. Paid a 3rd rouder for a rental player. Fairly steep, hopefully it won you a title.
I like the trade down theory and would explore that. Bowe for a fourth is better value then Jackson. I would keep Bowe.
Bowe is a keeper with Culpepper under center this season. Swimming against the posted tide, I'd also keep DeSean Jackson. Keep in mind that Maclin comes out of a spread offense, while the Eagles play West Coast (which DeSean played all through college). Expect D-Jax to remain McNabb's fave & to maintain or improve production with Maclin lining up at split-end and/or patrolling the short flat - one more headache for opposing coverage.
If Fitz is still available in the 2nd round for you, my advice is to go buy some lottery tickets. Better prepare for a Roy Williams or a Vincent Jackson. Still, trading down with your 1st round pick is a great idea!

Best of luck whatever you decide.
Culpepper?
I think you keep Bowe without a doubt but I certainly wouldn't take DeSean Jackson in the 5th with only 2 RBs in the fold (assuming you take a RB with the 1st rounder)...doing so would handicap you greatly as far as your RBs are concerned. I agree that it would probably be a good idea to try to trade down from your first rounder but only if you get a pretty good value for it...otherwise take the best RB available to you.
