Was anyone else surprised that 1 of the top 10 myths was not "the team that wins the coin toss in OT always wins"

I hear this all the time from fans, tv announcers etc. but I remember seeing a stat that its very close to 50/50. Remember when Favre threw the pick in OT vs the Giants to set up a field go to send the G-Men to the Super Bowl. Packers won the coin toss if I remember. Of course, when the Eagles go to OT it doesn't matter who wins the coin toss, it will end up in a tie anyway. This myth didn't even make the best of the rest list.

I have not seen that show but I wouldn't expect that to be a myth considering all of the media coverage this topic got this past season. Even if you are just a casual NFL fan and your name is not Donovan McNabb, you should have a pretty clear idea of the truth. And just for the record, while it's true that it's close to 50/50 in one sense, it's actually closer to 60% in the salary cap era when the kickoff spot was changed.

I didn't make the list because it's not a myth. In the modern era (since kickoffs were moved back about 15 years ago I believe) it's around 60%.

Correct; nowadays the team receiving the kickoff is getting an advantage, but in the past it was almost split, thus skewing those 50% figures.
