Gore vs Slaton??

If you had a choice to pick between Frank Gore or Steve Slaton who would you take? 6pts per TD, 1pt every 10yards/rushing 1 pt every 10yards/receiving. I have Clinton Portis as a keeper and am still trying to figure out who is the best pick for me. I am debating either a top RB like Slaton or Gore or a top flight receiver. If I leaned towards taking a #2 pick, I would be choosing between Gore or Slaton. Thoughts?

I would take Slaton for the next year or two, and Gore if it was more long-term. Houston is bound to get another RB at some point to help take the load of Slaton, while Gore will be the main guy in SF for a long time.

I'd take Gore personally. Still not convinced that Slaton will be able to keep up his performance from last year, and Gore is young enough to still be a stud for 3-4 more years. Trying to plan further out out than that in a keeper (especially in a 1 player keeper) is nearly impossible.

Out of curiousity, why? I dont think that Slaton is going to be valued any higher than right now. He has little competition for carries. At some point Houston will bring in another back dont you think?

We can keep a guy for a max of 3 years then he would have to go back into the draft pool. So no player in our league is real long term. For this year coming up alone, who do you guys like better?

I personally like Slaton. Looking at his highlights from last year he reminds me of the new up and coming Brian Westbrook. Take a look...

Plus look at his schedule this year. On paper it looks very promising. Seattle, St. Louis and Miami for the fantasy playoffs!!!!
