Because potential doesn't win fantasy football...the bust rate on QBs is tremendously high and there are enough solid QBs out there that most fantasy teams in dynasty leagues like this have a solid QB already. Most frequently the weaker point is going to be at RB and due to scarcity (same reason you don't take Peyton Manning or Tom Brady in the top 5), you take the RBs with the best situations/talent first.
And personally, I'm not a big fan of Stafford...could he turn out great? Sure...it's possible, but he never really impressed me at all in college and a big arm will only take you so far in the NFL. He has
ONE good target to throw to currently, no one outside of Calvin Johnson gets the nod as a "good" target yet and until the running game is a threat and the defense begins to stop people, then there won't be much pressure off him yet either. I think it's a stretch to say that he has "awesome potential", he has some potential but he's got one of the higher risks of any of the guys you could take here that are near the top of their positions fantasy wise.
