When to take IDP

Postby malcolm_reynolds » Tue May 12, 2009 1:29 pm

Just wondering what peoples opinion of when the first IDP players should be drafted. The "skill positions" are so hard to pass up because if a guy happens to be 'the next big thing" he can be huge for 10 fantasy years, the upside if often worth the gamble. However at what point are we just being ridiculous? I could use an upgrade at both DL and LB and I have pick 1.13. So I am assuming guys like Moreno,McCooy, Wells, D.Brown, Crabtree,Maclin, will all be gone. So just curious on your thoughts, guys like Orakpo or Curry I think would both look nice on my team. But would I be silly to draft them ahead of S.Greene, A.Brown, Hey-Bey, Harvin, Nicks, maybe even Robiskie or Barden?

Thanks
BTW

Well I'm not sure that I would be grabbing a lb that early in a draft. I know I was able to grab Patrick Willis in the middle of the 3rd in our 10team rookie draft. I think you can also find some quality lb's out there as well on the ww to pick up for your team. Do you have to start certain positions or just a certain amount of defensive players? What does the rest of your roster look like?? How many teams are in your league?

You draft IDP's just before you draft your kicker. NEVER, EVER draft one until after you have filled your starting lineup and bench at the skill positions. IDP stats are a crapshoot. BTW- Pick middle linebackers and strong safeties. They get more tackles than the other IDP's.

At 1.13 I woud still go offense. Curry is the closest thing to a standout for IDP and it would come down to your lague scoring for an accurate answer but guys like Jennings, Britt, Dillard, DHB should still be around at 1.13. UNless you have masive need at LB I would wait on Curry and see if you can land him later.
