I think your best targets are Chad Henne, Big Ben, or Eli/Jamarcus but only if you can get them cheap (less than 1.9 -- if you can't get them cheaper than 1.9 then just take Stafford/Sanchez/Freeman depending on who falls). Do not under any circumstance trade Turner or MJD for any QB unless you're getting another top 10 RB in return. You'll regret it.

Well.. that was a fun weekend. I definitely have a gambling problem when it comes to fantasy sports. Thankfully it hasn't translated to real life yet.

In short, here's what happened:
My league is based in the West Coast- I'm on the East Coast. The draft was announced to be on last Saturday- very last minute- due to some conflicts. So i end up making a deal 5 minutes before the draft via text message on my phone, I'm not quite happy with the deal but I knew my picks would lose value if I waited until after the draft, and I really really didn't want to get stuck with 5 rookies. Plus I have a gambling problem.

I traded.... *cringe*... Turner, 1.9, and 2.9 for Romo, Bowe, and Hightower.

My logic was based on several things, including 1) the 370 carry club 2) ATL is in the bottom 3 for RB schedule friendliness 3) Turner's value was at its max, he couldn't get any more valuable, so I in a way cashed in his chips. elite WR's are also very in demand in my league, so I figured I can spin one of my WR's and Hightower for a better RB.

In retrospect I wouldn't do it again, but I don't regret it. FF is all about fun for me, (and money heh) so I'm going to make the most out of it. I also took Stafford at 2.1 and Barden at 3.9.

So my roster looks like this (contract values in millions/parentheses)

QB Warner (2.3), Romo (2.5), Campbell (.6), Leinart (.3), Stafford (1)
RB Jones-Drew (2.5), Johnson (.7), Jones (.3), McFadden (1.5), F. Jackson (.3), Hightower (.75)
WR Moss (2), Jennings (1.25), Edwards (2), Gonzalez (1), Bowe (1.25), Ginn JR (.3), Barden (.3)
TE Davis (.7), Winslow (1.5)

I now need to shed $800,000 worth of salary to fit Stafford and Barden in. Also contemplating which RB to take a run at (if I end up making a move at all). I might stick it out and go with 1 RB/3 WR rosters on bad weeks.

Opinions?

I think Romo was a poor target choice...you didn't get full value for Turner and you added in a 1st round rookie pick on top of it. Bowe is a decent pickup but he wasn't close to worth losing Turner without getting full value in return. The problem is that even if you think Turner is going to struggle...chances are there are A LOT of guys in your league that may not think so (hence him going top 3 in nearly every mock I've seen) and dealing a top 3 valued RB for what you got was a downright steal for the other guy.

I still think you should have worked some sort of deal with Warner...even Warner/Turner for a guy you liked at QB and a slightly lesser RB would have been a good move. I'm not a fan of Romo after losing his most reliable WR target in TO...Roy is not someone I've been impressed with and their WR corps is significantly worse without TO...as much as I hate the guy, he can play football and causes every team to have to account for him at all times. Witten is great, but he is now the target that teams will account for first and foremost in the passing game rather than TO.

I think it was a pretty rash decision overall and that you'll regret not getting good value for him. Hightower doesn't really do anything for you with the signing of Wells there...I think you lost BIG on that trade as I wouldn't be surprised if you don't really play Romo all season this year. You won't get near the caliber RB with Hightower + a WR as you could have with a stud like Turner...Hightower as VERY low value right now and not many will give up a good fantasy RB without one in return.
