Who to take at 1.06 in rookie draft? WHIR

Postby dan9124 » Sun May 17, 2009 2:50 pm

I'm on the clock and these players have already been taken: Crabtree, Moreno, Wells, DHB, Maclin

My Roster:
Hasselbeck, Roethlisberger
AP, Chris Johnson, D Williams, Hightower, Green-Ellis, Buckhalter, Torain
Fitz, DeSean Jackson, VJax, Bruce, Koren Robinson
Gates, Shockey

I really need QB help but I'm not so sure about these rookie QBs. Should WR be the next place to look? I was thinking Britt or Nicks.

You'll be fine at QB...none of these QBs in this draft are going to be the saviors of your team by any means and there's no way you should consider one there.

With those guys gone you still have Brown, Greene, and McCoy available at RB and Harvin available at WR who are all better guys to take than either a QB or one of the WRs you mentioned. Don't fall into the trap of trying to draft too much for "need" in a rookie draft...you need to take the best available players who have the best chance of succeeding and one of those 3 RBs is the way to go I think...I'd take Brown personally.

Judging by your post you should be doing backflips that DHB and Maclin went before your pick, so I'd take Donald Brown there and consider it a steal....He's a much safer bet then those QB's and that's too early for a WR there if you ask me.

Take Brown then move a RB for an upgrade if you want one, maybe you could try to move Big Ben and Hightower for Rivers? Something like that, or Hightower n V Jax for a Boldin type of Wr if possible...I think Donald Brown is the best player by far though, and he's usually not around at the 6th pick so I'd lean that direction.

I would take Brown and not look back. No way you grab a QB there let alone this year. Next year is supposed to be a much deeper crop of equally talented guys which will make some of them great value picks. You are fine with Roth and Hass right now.

Thanks for the help guys...I honestly haven't done a whole lot of preparation for this draft so I wasn't so sure...I went ahead and took Brown. Though I forgot that Mendenhall was a free agent and he just got scooped up with the 8th pick..oh well.

Browns very good value there, I plan on taking him 4th in the drafts I have that pick but I'd love if he fell to 6th, if anything he'll be able to produce some points being in that offense.
