Upon completing a deal for DeAngelo Williams and the 1.03 rookie pick in a PPR dynasty, I have immediately received another offer
The Adda/Stewarti owner is squirming. He proposed either of the following:
Addai for Williams straight up (for me that's a hell no)
OR
Stewart for my 1.03 (very intriguing)
At first glance, it seems I should take the 2nd offer and run. I feel Stewart is better than any of the RBs in this draft, and with DeAngelo's contract about to expire, I could be looking at two starters in separate backfields. However I would be giving up a shot at Crabtree, and my WR core is aging.
I am attempting to acquire another pick in the first round to have a shot at a WR or QB, before I make this move.
Thoughts? Stewart of Crabtree?
As I have said, he has Stewart and Addai, and no first round pick. I can smell the desperation...
I'd give up 1.01 for Stewart, so to me 1.03 seems like an easy choice...I can see your dilemma for a WR, but it's not like you have alot to build around at RB either, I'd probably take Stewart and try to move Grant or Ward for a WR or an upgrade...Your top 4 isn't really all that bad if Roy and Chad show up next year, but I still think you want a nice core of young Rb's to build around and I think Stewart can and will be a top 10 RB at some point.
Maybe you could package Gonzo and Ward for a WR upgrade, or worst case, wait to see if Crabtree falls(do you think for sure he'll be there?) I know he's a great prospect, but I think if you moved Stewart straight up you could come pretty close to a guy like Colston if that team needed a Rb, I'd take the sure thing in Colston over Crabtree.
Worst case, if it were me, I'd easily take Stewart with the 3rd pick, and see how my WR's man out, if Roy and Chad bounce back strong your WR's are fine and your in a good place to move whoever you want and sell high on certain guys, but Stewart would be a great addition and I value him over Crabtree.

I would do 1.03 for J Stew. Rookies are always a risk, J Stew has already shown that he can play in the NFL. Plus, this locks up the Carolina backfield for you. I wouldn't even think twice about this one.

How about 1.3 + Ward for Stewart + a young WR (like Bowe, Holmes or VJax)
Ward's window is about 2 years, so you probably don't need him.
Getting Crabtree would be nice, but if there's another young WR on a better passing offense you could get, might be the best of both worlds.
The problem with that is that he doesn't believe WRs are that important and if I try to up the ante, he will undoubtedly ask for one of mine. His roster is:
I'm leaning toward accepting, because his options here are limited. He feels he needs either Stewart or Brown (with the 1.03), and he has no first round picks to acquire him. But that also gives me some time to work something out with another owner for a decent draft pick.
I know for sure Crabtree will be there, as the owners with the first two picks are desperate for RB help. At this point it's just a matter of what I decided to do.
I am currently trying to move Ward and/or Grant, with this deal in mind, to a few other potential buyers.

Yeah, no one else on that guy's roster helps you much. My only thought is you could try to get Edwards or something with a 1.3 + Bradley for Stewart + Edwards. Edwards might prove more trustworthy a backup than Orton, and the dude has a QB to spare. It should be easy to find a Qb though if you're desperate, so it's probably not worth the effort.
I like your thinking with the JStew deal, with DWill's contract up soon, what will they do? You know that DWill is going to lay it all on the line this year to get a big contract and JStew will be waiting in the wings to take over next year and that will leave you with two quality picks. I think if you pull this deal off just for the 1.3 for JStew it will also leave you some depth at rb to look at another trade for a wr to help yourself there. Good luck.

The problem is what if Carolina decides to re-sign Deangelo? He and Stewart could be in a split situation for a while thus decreasing both of their value. I have a tough time turning down Crabtree when you are ok at RB for a year or 2 and can even swing a trade before and during the season.
The only thing that makes this attractive is if Deangelo goes to another team and JStew becomes the guy. Now you have a 2 headed monster. But you might regret giving up Crabtree for a handcuff that splitting.
I'm going against the grain and saying you try and get more out of this guys trade or don't do it at all.

Probably because even if DWill re-signs Stewart will have alot of value as a handcuff, it's nice to have the main two guys from a backfield that is going to run the ball because you know for sure you have one RB spot locked up all but one week for the next few years, with some very solid production.
If one of the other misses a game, the other's value goes up even more, knowing you have both you wouldn't really need much else at RB, you could probably just rotate that RB2 spot all year with great match-ups...I still think it's very unlikely DWill re-signs, one more monster season and he's going to want top dollar, Carolina is already strapped for cash, and they would have a cheaper option in Stewart who will be more then ready to take over.
It just looks like Dwill will go off to a team starved for a RB where he can be the guy, and get paid like it...It would be surprising to see Deangelo stay in Carolina, happened with Barber, but Felix Jones came after his huge deal, if Felix Jones had been around a few years before Barber's deal he may of not been re-signed either.
