12 Team Keeper league Advice

Postby snixx79 » Tue May 19, 2009 5:38 pm

Hey all, Im in a 12 team keeper, qb friendly, otherwise standard performance scoring, no PPR. Need to keep 8 players, the rest go back into the pool for a 10 round draft. We start 1qb, 2rb, 3wr, 1te, 1k, 1Def.

My Roster
QB: Brady, Hill, Thigpen
RB: Mb3, P. Thomas, E. Graham, T.Jones, Cadillac, S. Morris
WR: Colston, White, Bryant, Henderson, Gaffney, Bess
TE: Shiancoe, Davis
K: Rackers
Def: Bucs, Panthers, Jets

Im fairly certain as to which 8 i keep.
Brady, Mb3, Thomas, Jones, Graham, Bryant, Colston, White.

Just looking for some tips as to the value of guys like T.Jones.... i want to deal him bad before the draft, but a 31 year old in search of a new contract doesnt carry a lot of value. What type of player should i be aiming for....there are some very RB weak teams in my leauge that could still use a serviceable back like Thomas Jones. I am a little foggy as to what/who to target. Any ideas would be great. I do have an offer of my own on the talbe: T.Jones/Antonio Bryant/Rd7 draft pick for Chad Ochocinco/Rd 3 draft pick. I also have straight up T.Jones for Felix Jones on the table, which would be nice so i can handcuff Barber.

While Jones is 31 and on the downside of his career for your team, you either deal him or keep him. You toss Graham back intot he mix before you toss Jones back in. Jones put up 15.1 PPG and Graham put up 9.8 PPG. Huge difference. Now, he is a renter and a risk, if Greene performs then his numebrs will take a substantial hit but Graham will never be better than a RB3.

I would package Jones/Graham and Bryant for an upgrade at either RB or WR, I would package any of your team together (maybe not White) to get an upgrade at the starting position.

+1 -- good advice. ;-D

If you don't deal Jones you have to keep him over Graham.

I agree about the 8 you'd keep. Pretty clear.

Felix is one of the better backups, but TJones for now is still a decent starter. In a dynasty that'd be a good trade for you, but Felix doesn't have much value for you unless MB3 goes down. TJones is a solid fill-in where Felix may not be.

The other one is even worse. Assume Bryant and Ochocinco are approx equal and the rd 7 pick is insignificant. If you're pretty sure you're keeping TJones, then he'd be at worst your 8th rd pick in a regular draft, versus the 3rd round pick (which is an 11th round pick in a 8 man keeper). Blegh.

Worst case, you can't swing a deal for TJones before the season starts. If he's at 3/4 of what he was last season, his value will rise from what it's at now and you can try to trade then.

I'm not sure T.Jones will get you much in a trade at this point, with his age and contract status. The only thing he has going for him is that with a weak qb this year they will have to run the ball and there defense will help keep the games close also, so he will get plenty of carries. I think your best option for him is a in season trade to a team that needs rb help. Good luck.
