The Better Squad

Postby FALACIDA » Thu May 21, 2009 1:00 am

I haven't even drafted yet so this is just brainstorming. 12 man keeper. Non ppr. Standard scoring. We start 1 qb, 2 rb , 2wr, 1te ,1 flex, 1 dst and 1 k. My keepers are DeAngeloWilliams , MB3 and Pierre Thomas. I lose a 4th , 5th and a 10th rd pick for these guys. I'm most likely drafting at the 2 spot but I do have the option of moving anywhere in the round. So. I've done research and tried to figure out everyone elses keepers and did my own cheat sheet based on that. Here is what I'm figuring my two options would look like. First drafting at 2 and then if I drooped to the bottom of the rd.

Mjd
DeAngelo
Mb3
Pierre Thomas

Tj House/ T.O.
Welker/ B.Marshall

That's after 5 rounds since Thomas is my 10th rd

DWill
Mb3
Thomas
Maybe Bush\Lynch

AJ
The best WR that comes back around in 2nd maybe Reggie Wayne

I'm actually a big RB wh**re so team 1 looks appealing to me and gives me 3 studs to start but the drop off at WR could hurt me in the long run. I know its hard to give advice not knowing whose being kept but any advice or other ideas would be appreciated. Leave a link and ill help with yours.

Team one looks stronger. RB's win fantasy leagues.

I think you are overvaluing Thomas. They still have Bush and word is, they're talking to Edge.

Do you have to keep him?

Love the value of Thomas, him for a 10th rd pick, that is big. I know on the CBS Sportsline Fantasy site they have Thomas ranked #15 and he went in the 3rd of there mock draft. So weather or not he preforms at that level that is great value, I think the combo of Thomas and Bush in NO will put up great numbers, so with those three I would look at wr with your first couple of picks, or a qb, depending on who is available. Good luck.

Overvaluing Thomas? Are you one of the guys in my league? Im keeping him in exchange for a 10th rd draft pick! He's going in the late 2nd-4th rounds in mocks that i've seen. I believe that where im getting him at is ludacris value. Im pretty sure Thomas will be the guy between the tackles and will get no less than 15 carries per game. Bush should be relegated to special teams IMO. Edge would be a backup.

I also like team 1. Thanks for the feedback.

I agree about Thomas DB. Even if he flops im still not losing much. Low risk , High Reward. I will definatly not be looking QB early this year. There are alot of mid-tier guys im looking at grabbing and doing a qbbc thing. Cutler/BigBen/Campbell , somewhere along those lines. Im pretty convinced that my first 3 rds will either be RB/WR/WR or WR/WR/RB. SInce I can start 3 RB's why not have 3 of the top 15 or so going every week. Could you imagine playing against M.Jones Drew----DeAWill and Mb3/P.Thomas . Kind of scary huh?

My point wasn't that you were losing alot by using a 10th round pick to keep Thomas. I just figured you probably had someone better than him to keep if you could only keep 3.

I still believe Thomas is overhyped. but like you said, a 10th round pick is well worth the risk.(if you don't have a better #3 keeper)

That is a tough one. Marshall may be facing a multiple game suspension, and both their numbers will probably go down with Orton at QB.

I don't envy you for having to chose between the 3.

I will say the Broncos will probably suck so bad that they will have to "air it out" in the 2nd half of many games.
