PPR question - Bush or Chris Johnson?

Postby MSM0006 » Mon May 25, 2009 10:19 am

3-yr-old PPR dynasty league. Start 2RB, 2WR, 1 Flex

1 point every reception, 6 pts every TD, 1 pt every 10 yds rush/rec

I've been offered Chris Johnson for Reggie Bush & Braylon Edwards

My other RBs are MJD, S-Jax, Gore, & Addai--other WRs are Fitz, Calvin, Steve Smith (CAR), & Roddy White.

I hesitate only because last year, Bush was leading all RBs in our scoring format early in the season, before he got hurt--I guess because he averages about 70+ catches a year.

Am I overthinking this?

Thanks--I'd appreciate any input.

On the face of it, it's not a bad deal.

But I don't think it improves your team a whole lot. It's not worth taking a RB downgrade for a WR that while could be studly if he bounces back, is probably 5th in your pecking order, especially when you only need to start 2 WRs.

Don't take this deal. I'd do the opposite of this offer and use your depth to consolidate your studs, rather than downgrading to expand depth.

I'm actually the one giving up Bush & Edwards. I get Johnson. Take the deal???

Bush and Edwards stock is very low right now. You ahve a good enough team that you can have these 2 as luxuries and either sell high if or when they turn in a few good games or ride them to a championship.

I would pass on the deal.

I'd do it, looks like a fairly easy trade for you...MJD, Steven Jackson and Gore are your top 3 backs thrown in with CJ, and you have 3 good strong WR's without worrying about Braylon, great move for you.

I agree with all of this. BTW -- that is a STACKED team you have.

How many teams are in your league? Your team is sick, man!

I'd do the trade -- you can afford to lose the depth, and Chris Johnson looks like he could be a real special talent. You'll rarely be starting Braylon or Reggie over the guys you have, but if Johnson improves on his rookie season he could easily be a huge windfall for your team. He'll easily challenge Bush when it comes to catches, as well.

I'd pass. I think even though your team is ridiculous on paper you may be giving up too much to get CJ. I say this mainly because I think last year for Braylon was a fluke and as you stated Bush was hurt. If Braylon rebounds and Bush stays fairly healthy they'll be worth more than CJ IMHO with way more PPR points. Tough choice though considering your squad.

10 teams in the league. I've been building my team through lots of wheeling & dealing over the last 2+ years. I normally follow a "buy low, sell high" philosophy, and I know Johnson's value is pretty high, while Bush & Edwards' is low, which is probably the main reason I'm having second thoughts about whether or not to accept. I'm with you, though--Johnson looks pretty special, and if LenDale ever moves on...well...that's another 15 TDs that have to go somewhere, right?
