Where would you take a "D" in this format?

Postby kingmike74 » Tue May 26, 2009 8:24 am

PPR/seasonal 12 man league

STARTERS

1 QB
1-3 RB
1-3 WR
1 TE
1 K
1 D

Here is the scoring format for our leagues Defense.

Total Pts. allowed
0-2 = 6 pointts
3-13 = 3 points
14+ = 0 points

INT/SACK = 1 point
Safety = 2 points
DEF. TD = 6 points

I think it is not worth drafting a D until my last pick or so with this format, thoughts?

I wouldn't take a d until your last pick. Don't waste a high pick on d.

Thx for the help. You got any sleepers for D? I could care less about points given up, just ST and turnovers.

Kicker and D/ST last two rounds.

I play the wire for D/ST so sorry, not much help on sleepers. I hear Pittsburgh is pretty good. :-b

Bingo. Unless there is exceptional value for a TOP rated D I wait until the last 2 rounds for D and K -- they key is the WW based on matchups.

Since your scoring format eliminates negative Defense scoring, you should definitely wait until 2nd to last pick.

last 2 picks are kicker and defense regardless of scoring, because that only effects them relative to other positions. Just pick the best available D or best matchup in week 1. i would reevaluate it every week until you have one that you feel comfortable starting most weeks, but still watch the matchups. Defenses are very hard to predict, especially before the season. Tenn, Chicago, Philly, NYG were all available FA's early in the season last year in my league. i didnt even draft a D but ended up with 2 of the top defenses and played the better matchup each week.
