WR depth

Postby dblj9911 » Tue May 26, 2009 10:53 pm

I'm in a 10 team dynasty league, 6pts all td, 0.5ppr, IDP league, we start 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te, 1 k, 2 idp. I have three great young wr's, with nobody behind them, but have some quality depth at rb. I don't have a 1st rd draft pick due to a trade, so my first draft pick is the 2.6. We only have a 3rd rookie / fa draft. So with my depth at rb, should a make a move to get a decent 4th wr in case of injury? Or stick with what I have? Would a wr such as Earl Bennet be a good pick in the 2nd rd? Thanks for looking.

My Roster:
qb- Palmer, Eli, Orton, S.Hill
wr-Fitz, Calvin, Colston, Hixon, Sydney Rice, Devon Bess
rb- Peterson, DWill, Ronnie Brown, R.Bush, M.Bush, C.Taylor, LJ, Caddy
te-Dallas Clark, O.Daniels
k- Longwell
idp- Willis, Ryans, Beason, Morrison

You have alot of "name" RB's that have quickly fallen out of favour unfortunately. I would certainly have no issue with dealing an LJ for some depth. I would be much more hesitant to deal Brown or R. Bush. I still like Brown quite a bit and really, for no real reason, ceratinly not his stats. And Bush, while a huge injury risk can be a dominant force in a PPR league.

Start shopping LJ and possibley even pair him with a Rice or Hixon and see what it can land you.

Bennett I would put in approx the same tier as Rice and Hixon.

I wouldn't try too hard. You picked up Hixon and Bess off waivers last year. You will find someone decent on waivers if you need them.

I actually like Hixon this year. At the worst, he will give you 3 or 4 lines like 4 recept, 90 yds, TD, which at least makes him a decent #4. He still provides a skillset the other Giant WRs don't.

Maybe you could target a sleeper like Miles Austin, Harry Douglas or Josh Morgan and see if you can get them cheap (Orton or LJ). I wouldn't give any of your top 5 young RBs unless you are really getting good value.

I like Bennett. Most of my leagues guys like him drop to the 3rd, but obviously he's a guy people will look at. I still like the rookie WR value at 2.6. I think there's a good chance DHB or Robiskie will be there when you pick and I think you have to take them over Bennett.

Youre roster looks pretty good overall. Do u really need 4 qbs?? U only start 1. Id get rid of a QB (Hill) and go from there.
