Gore + Portis for Brees/Manning...

Postby H00KemH02NS » Wed May 27, 2009 12:09 am

My 12 team league only lets us keep 2 and I want to make the most of my options. I have in mind two players I want to approach for a trade.

My noteworthy roster:
Fitzgerald
Gore
Rodgers
Portis

Theirs:Manning and Brees

Scoring is standard. 6 points for all TDs, 1 point every 10 rushing/receiving yards, 1 point every 25 passing yards.

They're both RB lovers and have no other keepers. I'm thinking of parting with Gore and Portis for either Brees or Manning. That would leave my keepers as:
Fitzgerald
Manning/Brees

Am I crazy or is this a win-win for both parties? Would you?

It would be a TERRIBLE trade offer and idea for you to do...you have two RBs that have 1st or at the very worst early 2nd round talent and a definite 2nd round pick in Larry Fitzgerald and you want to trade 2 of them for a QB that I wouldn't take before round 3 or even later? You are in a great position right now with those guys and the ONLY upgrade you should be thinking of is possibly dealing something like Gore or Portis and Fitz for ADP or something...an upgrade at RB is the only thing that will make your team better at this point.

Going into basically the 3rd round of a draft after 2 keepers with 0 RBs when you have guys definitely worth keeping would be a bad place to be.

I think you are on the right track in wanting to make your two keepers better by making a trade.

But QBs are a dime a dozen, especially when you can only keep 2 players. Short of the rest of your roster being absolute crap, I would not advocate keeping a QB in a two keeper league.

Why don't you try trading Portis OR Gore and Fitz for a stud RB? That way you start off with two stud RBs and draft best available players.

I agree with the others, don't even consider this trade. There will be plenty of QB's available that will put up great TD and yardage numbers.
